You got a legal ACMPR grow and cops come to the door. Now what?

The way I see it, it has to be like guns, people can not just show up to inspect your garden with out a 24 hour notice. HC does not have a key to my house, so if they did want to inspect they would need to alert me prior. Just like if the RCMP wants to inspect your guns they have to give you notice.

In other words, they can not just come into your place unless invited, you can tell them that your legal show your papers and if they want to get a warrent they can, but no one will issue one if your legal unless your suspected of backdooring.

Are you Canadian? Because under our MMJ system, we have a right to privacy and our Health ministry is not allowed to share our information with anybody, even the police. The only time they can do that is if the police get a formal complaint that they are required to investigate and the first part of protocol is to contact Health Canada to find out. Even then, only "limited" information is shared with them such as name, address, DOB and allowed plant limit. Nothing else. From there is what I'm not sure of what happens. It's not about how I want to "treat" police when they come to my door. Has nothing to do with being disrespectful and everything to do with protecting my rights and not allow them to violate them.

When you sign your grow paper work you check a box saying they will contact the police to notify them if your legal grow.
I just filled mine out and remember that particular box.
I was also wondering what rights we had with the police

This conversation is taking a turn. I already know what information HC shares. I'm asking what happens when the popo come to the door to check on me. Can they just ask to inspect or do they still need a warrant. Even if they do need one, doesn't mean I'm going to demand one. I'll gladly show them if they like. I'm just a person who likes to know their rights beforehand and I think a couple of people have answered that for me now, thanks for that.

have your paperwork handy and show it to them before they go into your grow.
i'm sure they can get a warrant but I believe it's better to let them in and show them you're working within the rules and then they will go away. it's people who use the argument that the cops don't have the right that get in trouble. we have the right (when we get the HC paperwork) but they have the means to make our lives miserable

During the MMPR days I had a neighbor (fellow tenant) who fell under the MMAR injunction and was growing. I sold him my old gear to expand. The landlords lacky discovered the grow and reported it to my landlord who called an attorney who call the insurance company. They all filed an eviction notice with the Landlord and Tenant Tribunal. My neighbor asked me to come as a witness. My landlord brought his insurance company rep. I was not allowed to be in the hearing room prior to my testimony but I was hearing experts coming out telling other experts how well my friend was doing tearing my landlord and friends apart. He ended up taking up the whole day. All other hearings had to be rescheduled. In the end, my landlord had to allow him 90 days, rent free, to search for another place as my friend argued that it is not safe to grow at his current residence anymore because of the landlords actions. My friend then filed a Human Rights complaint against him for outing him as a patient and trying to deny him his right. I don't know where that went. I lost touch with him since. Prior to the hearing he had cops come over who were hesitant to "come up and check it out" as my friend invited them to. They did and left. Fire inspector came too. "Put a couple of bricks under those ballasts and I will pass this garden". It was done before he even left.

That was a good day at the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Tribunal. :)

Again, I have no plans to give cops a hard time. I only want to know my rights beforehand. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

again? you asked a question and i answered it.
i was using "you" as the royal "we"...not you as a person
why ask a question if you don't want the answer or are going to be defensive?

You took my response the wrong way. I was not being critical. Just repeating what I said in an earlier post.

That not totally true. If you have over 12 guns they dont have to give notice.

Seems pretty straight forward to me, unless you're giving them specific permission when signing your forms (don't know as I haven't applied and never will)

The text you're signing off on is strictly to allow them to share that "limited" (define limited?) information, whatever that means.
Entry into your house is not something you're granting either HC or the police
= warrant if you want to come into my house

I would imagine "limited" to be identifying info like name, DOB, address, as well as growing info like plant limits. No private health info. Other than that, what else would HC have to offer?

Yeah I'd agree and it looks like something that would be beneficial so they don't come breaking your door down because a nasty neighbour claimed they smelled pot coming from your house.

But, if anything it should stop them from even knocking on your door. They don't have any right to come into your house unless they have a warrant. To get a warrant, they have to show that there's cause. I can't see a judge granting a warrant to some yahoo cop, for a house that is registered under the med program.

= warrant if you want to come into my house
(needless to say I've never and never would give cops access to my house without a warrant, that's the law)

They came out to visit my buddy, at my landlords request. Mind you, they didn't ask to see his garden and didn't really want to when asked if they'd like to. They were just responding to a complaint. I can't remember whether they confirmed with HC that he was registered beforehand or not but I'm sure he produced his paperwork.

They chatted a bit and they left and never came back.

You don't have to be an a-hole to them if they come knocking, just exert your rights. I've chatted with them before... on the front porch ;)
