you can use a hps in a mh ballast

so i was right then. so whats new mygirls? i kinda need some info from you hit me up with a p.m and im on day 25 of 12/12 and day 1 with my super argo hps

MyGirls didn't prove you right. He is right that a MH bulb will run with an HPS ballest. An HPS bulb won't work with a MH ballest and thats what your trying to tell everyone here. There's no ignitor to lite the HPS bulb. So how is it going to work? I wanna see a picture of your ballest running a HPS. Also take a better picture of your ballest itself. It does look like a MH ballest. I don't see an ignitor in it. That paper on the side of the transformer is the transformer itself. Thats the paper that protects the coil on it. But lets get a better picture of it up to confirm it and with a HPS bulb running in it.

Here's a picture of an HPS ballest. There's an ignitor in this picture. This is what you need to run an HPS. Now does yours have one of these in there. Also make note of the paper on the transformer. Thats to protect the coils.

Also beaware there is some MH ballests that do in fact have an ignitor in them. That could be the case here.

Heres what happens when you use the wrong lamp in the wrong ballast.

Take your chances if you like. But don't go around telling people its okay. You're going to cause some serious problems if you do.

You will recieve no +rep, and may god have mercy on your soul.

im not suggesting people do it im just showing that it works and i dont know how but it does and its not running hot like my mh bulb did and had the ballast hot. and i dont care about reps man .

i just discovered that you can use a hps in a mh ballast . i tried a argo hps bulb in my mh ballast . my ballast is a magnetic ballast and it turned on and ran smoother then my mh bulbs did. so its proven fact that it does work and you can use a mh bulb in a hps but it runs hotter so myth busted .

i think i came to a conclusionbecause i looked at both standard hps ballast and stand mh ballast and they dont look like mine at all so im thinking its a dual ballast but, i still dont see a ignitor though

Thats cause you don't have one. It's a MH ballest. The transformer has 2 sides. A primary side and secondary side or long side and short side, how ever you want to put it. That ballest you have has no ignitor. That HPS bulb shouldn't lite. Thats not a conversion bulb is it? Thats just weird. It should not lite with out the ignitor wired into the ballest. MH and HPS ballests are pretty much the same thing. They are wired the same. Just an HPS has an ignitor wired into it. Thats why you see switchible ballests. They just switch off the ignitor for running a MH bulb.

heres the pictures of everything and it runs both bulbs man .

need anything else?
