Yet Another BHO Blasting/Purging Post

So ive been dabbing (pun) in making some concentrates since i have access to a vacuum chamber now. I started with a first tester run of about 1.5 oz of material that my gf grew. It was mainly bubba kush. Got an initial return of about 5.5 grams from a tube that had small air buds and shake n it wasnt packed. Left it in the vac chamber for 3 days flippin it every 12 hrs. Had the temo controller set to 118°F for most of it, then on the last 18 hrs or so dropped it to 98°F. Came out with some half crumble/sugar n half shattery consistency.

After the initial test blast and purge i ground up 60grams of airbuds and shake n packed it in the tube, using a metal screen filter and a coffee filter, blasted 2 cans of tane thru it, water bathed till bubbles stop, vac purged it for 2.5 days in a full vac at 96°F flippin every 8-12 hrs or so n came up with 10.4 grams of straight fire.

The third run i did i did the same thing as the previous, 60g dry material ground up, 2 filters (1 metal 1 coffee) 3 cans of whipit to see if i get more return, water bathed it under 110°F, vac purged for 2.5 days in full vac at 98°F flipping every 8-12 hrs n got a return of 10.7 grams. So the extra can didnt do much. Gna stick with 2 cans per 60g tube from now on. I havent gotten a finished product pic yet, and i had a side fold over on itself, which i didnt want but oh well. I like the look of a patty/puck however it ends up on its own. I dont fold over my edges to make it more "pretty".

Last pic is the slab all done. Purged for additional 8 hrs to get that finished look with no big bubbles.

10 grams is pretty good , strain dependent and all
I look at it this way that one extra can isn't going to break the bank , but i do refill my torch before I use it :bigjoint:
Good looking end product ...I use a heater and move mine on demand ...but you are doing good

Yea thanks man im happy with the end product for a first timer. 10.4g return from 60g material is something like 17.4%. Of some mid grade material, id say. Mainly small nugs and air buds and sugar leaf. From what i read, that percentage is a mid to decent return for an open blast method. My next goal is to invest in a closed loop system. Along with a couple different size tubes and a pure(er) lab-grade butane supplier. To be able to reclaim it each run, from a closed loop system seems like a no brainer to me. Not to mention the safety aspects as well.

Heres the result of (2) 60g tubes being ran into the same concentrate. Used a diff camera on the laat 2 pics so it looks darker than it should. But when i get back over there ill take more pics with mine and you guys will see the actual color of this slab.

Here she is. All purged up. Looking beautiful. 24g slab. In the light, it looks beautiful and golden, but in the lower light its almost got an orangy shade. The shit is beautiful. And tastes just as amazing as it looks.

Purdy! How are the aroma, flavor, and effects?
The aroma off this slab is quite unique. It smells like a sour grapefruit mixed with touch of skunk. But not very floral like bud is. Its subtle. Easy on the nose. The flavor matches the smell, just triple fold. Effects are definitely indica dominant. A pleasant head rush is almost immediately followed by the deep relaxing waves that pulse throughout the mind and body. Allowing for a wonderful nights sleep.

I still open blast and vac chamber it. Haven't got the extra cheddar to invest into a loop. Especially after investing in my nute doser. But I only really make the BHO for me and my gf so to invest in a loop, jus doesn't make sense for us at this point.

The only way I've experimented and came out with a product similar to sugar wax was to heat it to a higher temp and whip it either after or while its water bathing. Somewhere around 95°F while vacuuming igot a product similar to sugar wax. It was halfway crumbly and halfway sugar wax.

Yes when mine has turned to like sugar wax but much drier it seems....
It ends up like that with leaving in chamber to long.....

In order not poisoning yourself or anyone else please purge your solvent properly. Blast into a metal container, then use cold water followed by hot then boiling water to degas, followed by heating the oil to 285/295 degrees F on a hotplate until all of the tiniest of bubbles/froth is gone and the oil is mirror flat. Then apply further filtering, polishing before making your dabs etc. .
