Its my parents property, about 500 feet from their house. I'm not within line of sight either
I'm doing it right. I've got a buddy doing the actual labor, he knows what he's doing. Me? I'm just cutting where the lines are and cleaning up after him. Nailing where I'm told and mixing the concrete LOL! I'm his bitch but it saves me on labor and I'm learning as I go.
I like the sawzall the best so far. Fun tool haha.
We've taken the whole floor out, all SIX layers of it!?!? And beneath were the 2x8joists (actual 2"x8") and a rotted 8x8beam. The beam was notched and the joist were notched and it all fit together. Its a retarded design really... The pipes froze and burst some years ago and the wood has been rotting ever since.
One side of the building is actually higher than the other by 7/8", and we only ripped out part of the floor so everything we do has to fit and flow with the part we didn't fuck with.
We have a couple utility poles around so we used them instead of the beams and cut out the rotten sections of 2x8 and replaced them. There are huge boulders at each corner of the foundation.
I'm pretty sure it used to be a building for storing tractors. But then they retrofitted it to house people? It looks like they demolished half the building, jacked up half of it, then built living accommodations.
Next we need to build that floor back up, then I can get carpet and linoleum in here and finish the kitchen area. Need to rip out shit in bathroom and the plumber needs to see if any of those pipes are still good. The toilet is cracked and the shower enclosure is cracked to shit. The water heater was bad so need a new one, might as well get a water softener and fuck it, RO system as well right? This is turning out to be a pain in my ass, shoulda rented another year
I can salvage the bathroom sink :victory:
There's a propane line underneath the house just chilling, not being used for anything so I'm going to run that through a small hole and have a propane BBQ out there, build a little patio area, on the west side. The bush/trees in front are being ripped out and replaced by my south-facing garden. The north side is a covered wooden porch and I'm gonna build an outdoor kennel so my dog isn't cooped up for 14hrs a day while I work. I think I might give her access to the porch too, so she has shade...
Pretty cool i guess, its kinda perfect for me. Small place to myself.
Whoa I had a lot to say there, I didn't realize lol
tl;dr don't bother, I'm tired.
