Would not have believed it otherwise..

i have lived in the country most of my life we have always flushed yeast down the toilet from time to time to promote bacteria to digest the solids in the septic system raw bread dough works too [yeast;sugar & glutens] so yeah i'm sure it would work bacteria loves sugar the by-product is alcohol

I have no idea why I came up with this idea, hell I wasn't even smoking when I did. WHOA, that's scary but anyways yesterday morning I went to the local grocery. They had a "store brand" box of Beneficial Bacteria (same stuff as Rid-X) but it was $5.25 for a 2lb box. I actually like this better than the Rid-X but for all I know it's the same stuff, just twice as much for $2.00 cheaper. Well, yesterday I added a "ball" to one of my girls (my own strain) and this morning the lower fan leaves were turned sideways and the upper fan leaves were straight up. This is a new one on me. I did do a nute change on her yesterday. Other than the leaves doing the exorcist thing she seems in good spirits. Anyone ever had that happen to a plant?

im guessing it would work better with bp... as there smore agitation in the res... bacteria love to be agitated lol pissed off bacteria= happy ladies

I've never explored the BP arena, just DWC. However, in my DWC I have a very powerful air pump so there is heavy agitation. For the heck of it I setup a DWC for one of my Habenaro Pepper Plants using organic nutes. I just want to see if I get that "sluggy" crap again using the Rid-X. I would much rather try it on a pepper plant right now instead of one of my girls. I set it up yesterday so we'll see how it goes.

As to my first two girls that I experimented on using Rid-X I can't believe the crystals that have developed on all leaves, yes, including some on the fan leaves. This is my own strain and never before have I experienced this kind of crystal formation. I'm not doing anything different than I was before except for the Rid-X. Climate has always been under control as the water temp. I'm not going to jump up and say the Rid-X caused this but I can't help but think it has played a role in it. I know there are many other variables involved but...dang... Not sure if I mentioned this earlier and with out scrolling up I have bought a "grocery store" brand type of Rid-X and for twice the amount at $1.50 cheaper and I'm impressed with it, of course I'm sure it's about all the same.

Keep us updated bro! Can this work in BP or just DWC?
Actually that is a good question. I meant to add this below but the more I think about it I have to wonder what kind of agitation takes place is a septic tank. For the fun of it I am going to take another pepper plant but only use a regular 20gal air pump to see what happens. I'll do that this afternoon and keep ya posted on what happens.

Im tempted to try this but this is my 1st grow and dont want to mess anything up. They are doing well now, my temps are too high as always but they really seem to be thriving after really light proofing my system. What does the bacteria eat exactly? They wont eat my roots? Sorry if a stupid question.

Oh and my girls are 3 weeks old.

Naw man, not a stupid question at all. The Beneficial Bacteria of Rid-X is basically the samething as Subculture B from General Hydroponics, only at a fraction of the price. They want roughly 34.00 for 3 oz and I buy Rid-X for $6.75 for 10.5 oz. The other day I bought a grocery store brand which was $5.25 for 24oz and am just as impressed with it as I was the Rid-X.

As for the roots, no, it will not eat them or damage them in anyway or no damage has been detected since I started adding it. Yesterday I setup a DWC for one of my Habenaro Pepper plants using only organic nutes. Gonna see if the "slug" mess forms again. So far all is good and this morning I awoke only to find the leaves appeared more green and lush. So so far I'm using it with regular nutes and organic in DWC. As long as you supply oxygen, which is a must anyways in DWC, the B.B will strive. You will get some real good bubbling action once the B.B cultivates which seems to take about 3-4hours. I do add some Fulvic Acid (50ppm) and some Humic Acid to my nutes. Basically the B.B breaks down unused nutes to make more accessible to the plant. The more I think about it the more I think it would help prevent Root Rot....I may be way off on that but I think it's logical.

If you do try it, and I say go for it, be sure to make a "ball" with something like Cheesecloth or pantyhose. You will get some residue on the sides of the bucket but don't let that concern ya. I just can't believe this actually worked. Give it a try, you can always do a nute change if you don't see any results but it won't hurt. I once tried Mycorr in DWC but did not see any improvements like I have with B.B.

Cool, so if I add the BB to GH micro and bloom bc Im using the lucas formula, it should help?

oh yea...In one DWC I'm using GH FloraNova, another Advanced and another Dutch Master and Gen.Hydro's Organic. 2 are for the pepper plants and the other two are for my girls. Too soon to tell on the GenHydro's Organic but otherwise all are going very well.

Update of the DWC using Organic nutes. First time I tried organic nutes in DWC it was a sluggy mess after two days. The other day I started another DWC using all organics but added the Bacteria. No signs of any sluggy mess has even tried to form. Rid-X and organics in DWC just may go hand in hand. I used a Habenaro plant for this experiment. Since I got so much organic nutes I think I'll start one of my daughters in it.

I mentioned earlier that I had bought a grocery store brand B.B. Without going into detail I am going back to the Rid-X brand. It just seems I get more bacteria action with it than the grocery store brand. Even though I get 10.5oz of Rid-X for about $6.50 as opposed to the other which is 24ox for $5.25. I am finding that I am having to use twice of much of the grocery store brand than I did with the Rid-X. Nothing is wrong with the store brand it's just that if I have to use twice as much, if not more, to get the same action as Rid-X I just soon go back to it.

I know that Habenaro Pepper plants is not a subject for this site but dang....the ones with B.B are unreal. Today I'm gonna move my Ghost Pepper plant to DWC with Rid-X.

As to the one in DWC with organics. I am going to have to cut the nute strength in half.

Cool man, congrats on the results. can you post pics? Also why cut your nutes in half? Were they doing fine with the nutes at the strength they are at now until you added the BB and the BB made it too much?

i read somwhere here a few years back that you do not need that benificial bactiria in hydro for some reason i forgot what the reason was but that it is not necessary and probably a waste, maybe somone can shed light?

That could be true but the results I'm getting on both my girls and the pepper plants kinda tells me otherwise, or something different is working.

I am very pleased that in the organic DWC there is no slug mess with BB as opposed to last time I tried organics in DWC without BB.
