Thank you Moebius, I'm getting really excited as I get closer to my days off where I can give this project the time it needs to get going. The various contents of the bottles from work are dish soap, oven cleaner, degreaser, and bleach. I cut the bottles at work rinse them thoroughly with an awesome over head hose, hand wash them, rinse them again, put them in an industrial dish washer with sanitizing liquids, and rinse them again. We use all these things on the dishes, food storage containers, and the flat iron grill top, and I've used them to clean out bowls before, so I think they rinse off safely and the plants will be safe. Either way I have tried to collect mostly dish detergent bottles, and if I can get 9 of them before I get to that stage of the grow (probably a week before I decide to flip the lights) then I will just recycle the other bottles.
I was going to be all dissimissive and say 'Thats not a good idea dude' but then I thought about it.

Lots of growers use bleach and other harsh chemicals in their grows. Some of the chemicals I use are quite corrosive and harsh too. PK 13/14 isnt very pleasant, neither is H202. And pure nutrients are not kind to hands. .... Of course, as long as those bottles are rinsed as you say, its all good.

really informative thread, i have been thinking about doing a hempy/ passive hydro on my next run. i like the results you got from the 2l pots seems about right 14g...thats ok for a single cola surely. i also have done some reading up on other peoples recreations of the hempy bucket and from what i have learned is solong as you allow the hempy res to run dry for no extended time, simply filling the res up via top soil watering will replace the air within the res. once roots are firmly established in the res, consumption rockets. more frequent watering = frequent air replacement. all theory

i'd really like to try this with 6.5liter hempys as my tent is 1m2, until i select a mother and am able to clone, 2L bottles seem like a massive headache lol....pheno frenzy

. ...I am going to be trying nirvana's Papaya this way next.....
I hope yours do better than mine !!

I just finished a SOG 12/12 from seed and I was not happy with the Papayas at all. I had 20 to start and they had the highest percent of males of anything I have tried. The ones that were female did not fill in as well and do not have the nice aroma that the others did. The Pure Power plant from Nirvana did very well and the AK 48 almost did as well, but I will not be growing Papaya again.

Guy's, Ive cut my Moms down and pulled my clones. ............ I miss them already. ... Its not only my hobby but also make me cash money, so this represents a significant loss. However, as some of my RUI friends have already stated, trust in my instincts and stay outta jail.

Thanks all for your advice. ..... I'm feverishly thinking about how I can get up and running again, bigger and better ASAP.

All I have running ATM is 1 tub containing 21 hempy buckets and a few strays. .... I'm drying around 40 in my tent. They'll be sold by next week and I plan on buying a nice LOUD amplifier with some of the dough. Maybe even a set of Technics 1210's to rekindle an older hobby.

This is the last tub  :leaf:

They've been neglected recently, time to show them some love.

So sad my friend. I like your idea for payback, I guess you are looking to move, lol. I have a neighbor that I punished with 400 watts of Rob Zombie and the like for a few days. I loved it, he hated it. On day 1 he called the law and it just so happened that I had done work for the cop who responded and I saw him coming and turned it down. He sided with me and as soon as he drove away I gave a loud cackle at the neighbor and turned my shit back up. Good times. Make the bitch pay as you leave !!

These girls seem to really love PK13/14.

I havent really spoke about what I have been feeding my plants but lets just say its not the strongest part of my grow OP.

Ive been quite slack and lazy but still have had acceptable results. These hempys have just been feed a LUCAS ratio of the General Hydroponics 'Flora' series.
They were being feed 21ml and 42ml per 10 gallons.

I just started with the PK13/14 in the 3 or 4th week of flower. They don't get much, just 5ml per 10 gallon.

My water is pH downed using phosphoric acid to around 6 or 6.1. ..... I'm far from an expert, so please don't take this as the definitive route to success.

I use Blue Planet nutrients and like you I do not use them at full strength. I mix water from 2 wells to get the pH where I need it so when I add nutes it falls just right. I only like to run between 8-900PPM max in Hempies. I do not flush or shoot for any run off. If I ran them any higher, I'm sure I would have to flush.

For sure she's going to be wound up a little but I really don't even have to try. That's the sad thing. .... She's told a neighbour that she's 'intimidated' by me standing at the communal front door. .... Ive been doing it for years before she even moved in. I like to chat to peeps as they walk by and before I was growing I would smoke a joint, listen to music through my window and just be sociable. I call it life. .... My ego demands payback but my super-ego tells me to move on.

Anyways, This is the :leaf:World of Hempy:leaf: thread and not the :sad:World on Whingers:sad: thread to I won't dwell on this.

Do you get the truncheon out everytime or do you now know by just measurement?

I feel like a little silly for saying this, I used a truncheon years ago then sold It when I stopped. Bought another bluelab when I started doing the hempys, and I haven't used it once. Its literally brand-new. Laziness, I guess. but I was still in the dialing in phase and didn't feel it was essential until I dealt with perfecting the environment.

I like the look of Blue Planet nutes. ... '420fied' uses them in his thread on another site. ..... Not available in my country unless imported. Next time I going to try the Vitalink or the House and Garden brands again.

One of the strengths of 2L above larger sizes is that for going straight from clone, thats all thats needed. ... It obviously allows you to cram many more individual plants in the 12/12 room.

With 2L bottles any plants that show a phenotypical propensity to stretch can simply be moved to another area in the tent/room. At any rate, plants seem to have built into their bio-mechanics the ability to regulate growth according to their root size, which is restricted in narrow 2L bottles.

I think you'll have great success in 6.5L. Its just a little different from 2L sizes, which also provides a flat SOG style canopy in just a few weeks.

Please post pics when you get up and running dude, we always appreciate new hempy'neers to the :leaf:W.O.H:leaf: thread.

I have different jugs marked for different phases of growth. At the peak of my nute use, I have to use the more of the water with the higher pH so that it hits just right. Every few weeks I break out the meters just to see if things are still on track, but not near as much as I used to. I have been following Fieds journals since before the 2 liter hempy. He got the idea from the user Xare on RIU. Fied inspired a guy that I talked to a lot and that is how I got the idea for DWC/2L/Hempy, though mine is different from theirs and evolving. He was trying something similar before he had to shut down because of a bitch.

Yeah, I thought of mentioning Xare and 420fied on the OP. They inspired me and although Ive never talked to them, I like their grows a lot because and their experiences and teachings have really helped.

re: EC truncheons. ... I may be wrong but I figure for this style of growing theyre pretty much not needed. .... I prefer to look at the health of the plants after giving them a specific dosage and then adjust by giving more or less. ... The truncheons are of course essential for maintaining a specific EC level in a re-circulating res or DWC but since hempy buckets get fresh feed everytime, I don't see any need.

Damn man that is not good to hear. I hope you got a bad batch of seeds or something because I was wanting to use the best male to cross with the feminized PPP as well as the best female Papaya to maintain the Papaya genetic line and create "Papaya Power!" This is my first grow with anything besides bagseed.I still have heard only good things about the Pure Power Plant though. Could you share your yield, light, and container size please.

The way I understand it, the run off is an important part of the hempy bucket. When you water your hempy from the top, you create a vacuum. The water pushes the old air out of the hempy hole. The reservoir fills up and if you continue to add water the container will fill up higher than the hole. When you stop watering, all the built up water drains out of the hole and a rush of fresh air fills up your container. So every time you water your hempy hemp, your also providing the roots with fresh oxygen. As someone mentioned earlier more waterings means more fresh air. It just makes it more hydroponic.

I had heard good things until I started them and then I saw others saying bad things. I just kept my fingers crossed. I did not even weigh the crap. They were grown under a 1000w hps. 2 liter soda bottles. My PPP's were not femmed, but I bet yours will still be good. My advice is veg her long enough to get a few cuttings to make a good mum or two.

In order for that to be true, you would have to have a column of water to push/pull the air... the perlite is going to retain a lot of that water. More than you would imagine. I don't shoot for a topped off reservoir. Mine gets used up between waterings, but not to the point that they wilt on me. Later on in the bud cycle when the uptake of water slows down, it worries me that there would be root rot issues if constantly topped off.

If I were you I would try it both ways to see what works best for you. I am from the camp that lets them dry out a little between waterings and it works for me. I do not have to deal with run-off and I am not wasting nutes and bloom booster. Even if mine are less hydroponic(LOL), ask my plants if they care....

I thought the column of water was created within the bottle despite the medium's retention. But you know what they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Never thought we would be discussing the physics of fluid dynamics inside a hempy bucket..... Cool. LOL.

What Ive noticed is that the forced flow of water from the narrow spout of a water can, creates a spinning vortex of nutrients. Like a bath plug hole.

The negative pressure inside the vortex pushes air downwards in accordance with the 'Bernoulli principal'

.

Edit: Do not take seriously.

I was telling my girl about your situation with your neighbor and she had the brilliant idea that you should infest her house with something, like roaches or termites or some other kind of nasty pest and chase her out of there. Have you ever seen duplex?

All this week ive been expecting a knock on the door from the PoePoe. I destroyed everything except 1 hempy tub. ...... Nothing, not so much as a smell of a bacon sandwich.

tbh ... I see it for what it is, her ignorance. and even though she's done me bad, Its about picking your battles in life. .... My battle isn't with any one human but is a personal struggle against poverty, conquering my own demons and achieving 'some' goals. ... She's not even on my radar.

I like the suggestion though, sounds fiendish. MWAHAHAHAHA ..... only one thing, she lives upstairs and any pest could find its way to my apartment. :cuss:

I like the oldskool ones like itching powder, although fleas would be far more effective.

Edit: Ive not seen Duplex but its on Icefilms , I'll watch it. LOL
