I've used it on and off since I started growing. If I was dialling in another system like NFT or DWC I might use it again. ... With Hempy I feel its just not necessary and for 'me' has never helped.

I'm still learning but this is how I see it with my current understanding/reasoning; Leave out the pH and a grower can increase the EC levels using a 'balanced' nute. Thus creating a 'broader' chemical profile in the solution and in turn lowering the pH.

In my head I imagine the spectrograph of my solution. When I add pH down to that image (in my head) I see a huge spike in the P. ... For me 'I think' this is what leads to many lock-outs of other elements. ... Then what growers tend to do is compensate with more nutes/addys at ratios that have become meaningless because of the lockouts.

Another reason I leave it out is ; ultimately the plant ideal pH level will change depending on its size and age, stem thickness, lighting etc. It takes detailed observation and note-taking to really dial it in and 'KNOW' whats best. and if you introduce new additives, it all changes again. Some growers may just start using it and it happens to work but thats not my experience.

I use the tap water also. My usual ph after adding nutes is still around 7.3 so I like to ph down to around 6.0-6.3. I was running around 5.7-5.9 during veg and continued that into flower last grow, but the girls definitely did not like the low ph after they were done stretching and I ended up back at 6.1. I have been using the GH ph down but recently started using apple cider or rice vinegar. I find that the rice vinegar is a stronger acid than the apple cider and I can use less but it is quite a bit more expensive so I'll save that for the sushi!

I use the GH 3 part and supplement with cal/mag , GH Florablend and Liquid Koolbloom. I pretty much follow the GH simple drain to waste schedule and adjust as the plants grow. I start the koolbloom around day 15-21 at around 2.5mL per gallon and bump it up to 5-7mL as buds start to bulk.
I also flush with clearex regularly.

Sounds like you live in an area with heavy alkaline clay soils. Thats quite a high pH to still have after nutes. My tap water starts out at 7.3 and I thought that was high.

cant use my tapwater :( It starts at 7.4 Ph and keeps rising.(Dont even wanna drink that shit no more) Even after 24h of bubbles. I buy mineral water everyday. Was thinking of trying mineral water with bubbles in it. Its just co2 right?

A friend of mine in a neighboring street had really cloudy dirty water coming out his taps. He lived with it for years before the Landlords fixed whatever issue it was. Now it looks ok.

Fizzy water is not good IMO. The CO2 may be replacing O2.

Ah man, thats a real shame about your water dude. Have you tried it in Hempy? it may be OK.

It has to be cheaper for you to install a 5 stage RO system to fit undersink?
Failing that, I would contact the local council or waterboard and ask if they have cheaper subsidised water outlets because mine was crap.

Anything that i have had tapwater in for more then 7 days seems to be full of calcium salt deposits of somesort.
Mineral water is not cheap. So i might try using tapwater in my hempys and then have a weekly "flush" with mineral water.
Ill def. get a RO system as soon as i have the money for it. Ive asked about the water and they say it is normal to be alittle high on everything cause we are so close to the waterterminal. Nearly lost my autos cause i used it in dwc.

IMO Hempy is a more robust system than most others because its D-T-W. ... Plants like it. ...I suspect you'll have no problem with your tap.

If I were you I would go with that until I was literally 100% convinced it was no good and I was banging my head against a brick wall. .. It will have been treated for consumption by humans so ..... why not?

anyways .... Plants like and need Calcium. :)

My tap water is 9.1 PH but 51ppm; it works ok in hempy for me, but it takes sitting out for a while first..

strange water it seems, compared to most peoples on here.

I use regular city tap water and don't use a pH meter or actively manage it. My pH is lowered using the range of nutes and additives in my line-up. It works for me. ... I will in a few weeks start 'experimenting' with 'Canna's' organic pH down (citric acid) just to see how the plant responds to slight changes in pH but this is final dialling in.

Wow .. a pH that high usually means a lot of alkaline minerals. .. strange the ppm is so low.

So I was hoping for some help with my diy cloner. At first everything was fine but now I'm losing half my clones to wilting. So my 17 site is only giving me aprox. 7 to 10 viable clones. I've cleaned and light bleach solution then rinse clean about once a month. Any Help would be appreciated. LOVE THIS THREAD!! Everyone here is great with not bashing each other! Should I use pool shock? I run cloner 24/7 temps are cool to the touch. Run RO water only.

Got any pictures of the cloner and how it is set up, this would help to determine what is going on.

I've got the current grow dialed in, at least it feels like it is.

Current medium equal 1/3 mix of coco coir (GH), coco chunk (mulch) & very chunky perlite.
I'm liking the GH coir much better than the Roots organic coir (brick) which dropped my ph so I didn't need any ph down, but I found that the amount it adjusted it varied during the grow, which made it hard to maintain properly.

Nutes;
Oscomocote + 15-9-12
1 ml Silica Blast
8 ml Cal/Mag (2ml during veg while in soil)
2 ml ph down (don't use any during veg while in soil)
1 ml Floralicious + (seaweed extract with other goodies in it)
(all per gal)
I'm doing a baseline grow here with the new medium and strain, so I won't be adding any bloom enhancers this run, at least that's my intention now.

Water; I use use a 50/50 mix of RO & Tap. My tap ph 7.1 ec 1.2 thats a tds around 500.
I've found OC to be ph neutral so I adjust my ph to the 6.0 range.

This run MW x PH and I have 2 distinct phenos, the pair up front that are shimmed up on paint buckets are showing more indica, the one that's back left is showing more sativa. The back right is the MT mom set free, it's gonna be a bush. All day17 12/12

Got up this morning and found my light hadn't come on, the fan was running, but nothing lit up for the plants. Started investigating everything, timer, plug and cord to ballast, ballast itself, just couldn't figure it out. Pulled my 400 watt ballast and bulb out so I could get some light going, rooms a mess from rummaging through the closet. So on the way to work I remembered I have a MH bulb need to make sure it will light up. So I get home this afternoon break out the MH bulb screw it in plug everything in and wa la light. Totally forgot to think it may be my bulb, glad I just ordered a new digilux 600 watter.

Nice lookin plants Watt, going to have a nice crop from those ladies.

Tex is right, pics would help. I wouldnt use pool shock. Its not needed and just adds more complexity and expense. .... actually, I dont know what it is but if its not water, its not needed.

I run tap water and cannot recommend RO because I've no experience of it. ... 420fied who also runs a high cloning setup also uses tap water. ... I think its the best stuff.

In my previous DIY clone design the glue was breaking down. I was losing 5 clones from ever batch of 50, they would rot. .. I believe the breaking down glue was causing the issue. Marine goop does not break down nearly like the other stuff. .. I now have 100% success.

so without seeing your design; I would suggest tap water and looking at the glue.

Your moms are much more established than any moms Ive ever had, so thats not the issue.

Please (now ive mentioned it) focus on the Hot glue as the issue ...

On the inside of my pvc tubing I noticed very slight scum 'adhering' to the inside of the tubing. then it occured to me that the Hot glue breaks up slowly and bungs up the sprayers and also the plants 'tubing'.

Marine Goop or BUST!
