It would make me mad. I was fuming when the popular vote of the people was denied in the 2000 election. Granted, I did not like, nor vote for Gore or Bush. But I do think this whole mess would have been largely avoided had they simply listened to the people. Some assume that people are naturally stupid but I think that when the people speak, we should listen.
Right on the money. If we don't bother listening to them, we cannot tell if it is a good point (which some have) or pure nonsense. The people with good points can be talked to, and even if we do not get to a agreement, it can be better understood what the other is saying, and it is not as scary.
And easier still is showing that the stuff that is wrong, is wrong. It may not stop the shouting about it, but at least by putting the information to the actual arguments being made, people may actually be forced to look at it.
But when arguing a different point, and never actually taking the time to understand what is being said, you can never get people to understand, they just get to point and say lies, and mean it, because they never bothered to find outwhere the other is coming from.
