Why I love these stealth grows :-)

I see so much ingenuity going on here it amazes me :-) A few years ago I don't think I had heard of stealth grows in PC cases or small cabinets but its exploded in recent years and now its accessible to just about anybody who wants or needs to grow good cannabis for themselves. If 2 or 3 small plants can get you by and you are not comfortable with 'bigger' grows then this is the way to go :-)

How about posting your stealth grow here? One post each, couple of pics and quick run down on the spec etc? Could be interesting and inspire new growers who are setting out to build their first stealth grow box? I love looking at the insides of those PC case grows!

And post a link to your thread here too.

MINE:
Stealth cabinet, 350watts CFL's (16 small bulbs), fitted above/resting onto a thin glass heat shield. Intake fan (4") lower left of cab, above that a small circulation fan blowing towards the right and through the bulbs, exhaust fan (4") at top right. Temps hold steady on 75 with constant airflow, glass remains barely warm to the touch and upper buds are just 1 to 2" below the screen. Pot size used are 10", cab size is 32" wide by 32" high by 12" deep.

This little cab has kept me fully self supplied for over 2 years now, I only smoke what I can grow :-)

Hope to see a few more here?

Hey very nice you cabinet, i saw it before and u helped me before. I have 2 question, are the CFL safe just laying on the plexiglass and is that an inline fan ( If it is is noisy at all?) THX

Just out of interest, how much yield do you get from the plants. I am not knocking you at all, but i know how much effort and money it takes to do a grow and there doesn't seem enough room to get a decent yield.

some people like me dont do it for the money...we do it so we dont have to worry about being ripped off or dealing with shaddy people

No one mentioned drug dealing, when i do a grow i dont have the luxury to do it perpetually so i have to grow enough to last 3 month (till the next batch is ready).

Hi papasamba :-)

To answer your Q's...... Yes, the CFL's are very safe resting on the glass , the key thing is airflow; cool air is sucked in at bottom left by a 4" inline bathroom fan, above it is a circulation fan and there is a 2 " gap to allow the 'intake' air to rise which is then blown across towards the left, both above and below the glass, where it is sucked out at right by another 4" bathroom extraction fan (£16.00 each from B&Q here in the UK). (POsted some better pics to show how the glass is fitted). Very quiet running fans. I can place my hand flat on the glass and its barely warm to the touch :-) Hope these pics help illustrate it?

smokinspyder: Stealth grows are perfect for the moderate user, as I am :-)

bloatedcraig: thanks for looking in :-) I'm aiming this really at those growers who don't require buckets of buds! I average very close to 1oz dry per plant in this box, I veg clone/seedplants for just 2 weeks and train them LST/ topping/bending as required. I flower roughly 9 weeks, and the follow ups are ready to go straight into 12/12. Some grows are just 2 plants, this one is 3! keeps me supplied.

Few pics of recent plants grown in the cab :-)

Come on, lets see some of those stealth pics????

Very nice NL , looks like a nice yield! Did you top it and LST? i wonder... your cabinet is awsome... i want it.. whats nice is that the glass as the purpose of a screen so the plant have to grow mor horizontally and thats SICK good job .. I wonder though at the beginning can you lower the glass ? they must stretch alot if not

Your cabnet looks to be tuned perfectly! im still working out the kinks in my grow. have you thought about trying a bubbleponic setup in your cabnet?

Thank you smokinspyder :-) I have grown DWC in the past and its great. But in this little cab its easier to be able to play a round with position etc in pots I find. Every inch counts (as the actress said to the Bishop :-) so I can turn and raise them up as required.

Heres another pic of my stealth cabinet at end of week 6 12/12. In the pics in my thread I have used a rule to illustrate how short I keep my plants in that space.

I was hoping to see a few more stealth grows pictured in this thread but I guess they are all far too stealthy to be shown? :-)

Here's one closet-type stealth grow complete with carbon filter and ballast on the outside.

The filter looks like a black rubber pipe joiner and if you look carefully you can see the ballast sitting behind it and the other junk, hidden in plain view.

Also notice the very budget hi-tech air extraction system

Hi Spoon :-) Just had a look at your thread.... thats amazing to pull that from a PC case grow! I've looked at a lot of pc case grows but thats got to be one of the best for yield. Nice healthy buds at harvest too. The glass screen works wonders in a pc case.

MissMeanWeed :-) Another nice set up. Do you utilise all that height in that space? Its ideal to be able to extract straight out the top like that. Thanks for posting the pics here.

Might as well add another couple of my little cab here, it blends in well with the room, and its built into an old shelving unit, it still makes me smile when I look at it:weed: I have not had to buy weed for quite a few years now :-)

Anyone else want to share their stealth grow here?

Hey Mature, how long do you veg? What light cycle? Do you clone? I started a cab with a top shelf with cfls for veg, and the bottom with an hps for flower. I thought my hps needed more room, but it turns out I can let the plants grow up to the glass now with my DIY active exhaust! So my veg shelf only has about 12 inches usable height for the plants. And Im trying out all these strains, I planted some seeds and decided to sex them in the top veg shelf. Now Im actually thinking of using it to flower them, as I borrowed another CFL system to grow out clones. Originally I wanted to put them back into veg after sexing. But now I cant decide. They are only about 6 inches. I think Im gonna veg em a while, with some LST. Probably try to get branches out lateral at the same height as the pot, or even lower. Then flower again.

Meant to add that my HPS flower cab is 5 ft tall, thought I needed 1-2 feet clearance between hps and plants. Thats what the manufacturers suggested, and other literature, until I came here and finally saw people kept em within a few inches.

Hey mature. Amazing setup going i hope i can have one that nice some day.
Im thinking of doing a speaker Box grow with CFL's. The speaker is roughly 2 feet tall by 1 foot wide. I have fans and some t5 flourecent tubes to run along the sides of the box and i will have some CFL lamps on the top wich i still need to get.

I have one conern right now, the fan runs pretty noisy wich may attract unwanted listeners :P i tryed to muffle the noise with some noise dampening material, still dosnt seem to help much. Any comments or advice, i will be posting pictures shortly thanks.
