Why does my dab leave this white ash and taste bad?

I'm using a quartz banger, does this look normal or is my rosin just not very good? Thanks

I know full melt always leaves an ash type of residue due to the sack of the trichome not always dissolving fully compared to bho/pho where it dissolves the thc and leaves the sack behind. How's it taste?

yeah i did squeeze it myself. and it tastes like the glass drop down i used, when i unwrapped it from shipping. it smells pretty bad, and ive decided to use a Ti nail instead. and the taste is still coming through i believe from the drop down.. I think i should clean the Ti nail and the drop down for future use.

It was just a regular bud, with no screen between parchment under a 6 ton press

Rosin is an admix, that includes some incombustible water solubles. You should expect some residue, and we typically clean a quartz banger frequently with q-tips.

As far as tasting bad, define bad? Phenolic, or an off taste?

Ya that's what I was thinking. Normally the taste is out this world to be honest. Lol I normally use a 90 micron screen but mainly use trim when I squish.

the taste is like how new glass sometimes smells right out of the package, like it needs to be disinfected or cleaned off before first use, but mine has already been cleaned for use. It's, just an artificial taste, like plastic, acrylic, glass, or metal. its harsh from the quartz banger, and way better from the Ti nail using the same drop down. This is the rosin I'm using
