Welcome to america, where freedom of speech means you can say anything you want as long as it doesn't affect the profits of major corporate lobbies

Transparency is not a good thing for companies like AN or H&G who want you to believe that plant nutrition is about more than the 16 essential elements and that non-NPK type additives make all the difference in someone's grow.

The truly sad part is that there are going to be a lot of uneducated growers who will totally believe that bullshit article.

In general, there is a lot of discussion about how Govt. doesn't work, and how we should just let businesses regulate themselves. And this article exposes the real culprit. Follow the Money...Regulation has conveniently become the vehicle that drives Big Business who buy government officials through lobbying, and then Use govenrment to Manipulate and Control for their own monetary gain, rather than to Protect the Commons, and encourage Progress. btw...I actually read and comprehended the entire article, before I came to my conclusion. When someone calls bs, it makes them look smarter if they actually back it up with specific salient points. Otherwise, it appears as if the bs accusation is just a reflection of the commenters own pre concieved beliefs. How Ironic that your declaration of self servitude is so self serving.

"when someone calls BS" + "that bullshit article"= YOU...,the self serving stuff was for Wetdog...( sorry next time I'll be more spacific)
If you're honestly interested to know, I did read the whole article. In the event that you're unable see past the crybaby story about AN vs the world, the article is just another poor attempt to convince growers who don't know any better that plant nutrition is about more than the 16 essential elements and that non-NPK type additives make all the difference in someone's grow, which is incorrect.

I did not read any of the article, well maybe a line or two, looked at the "our label before and after" picture, laughed and dismissed this as typical Rosebud bullshit, get even one of those magazines and not realize it is self serving from cover to cover is either blind or stupid. Anything read in that rag should be dismissed as sellers bullshit, easiest way to dismiss it, don't read the bullshit to begin with.
If you doubt this at all, go to your local hydro shop and ask for a copy of rosebud, most likely they will give you this glossy magazine for free, with a celebrity on the cover, and nothing but plugging Advanced Nutrients and all of their offspring companies.

I have found Dutch Master to be a decently honest company with a scientific approach to growing. There is still much hype in their marketing, but no outright lies or direct deceit. Most importantly, all their products deliver on the promises. No company is totally exempt from hype; sell the sizzle, not the steak.

In response to Homebrewer (post #12) and Truno...(post # 13) We get it...you two are predisposed to discredit anything that this publication presents. Science does tell us that plants only take up 16 essential elements. Agreed. I am interested in seeing some evidence regarding your positions that additional elements in mother natures growing medium have no influence in the plants ability to utilize those 16 elements in a more productive manner. As the research was done by several scientists who understand this subject, I am looking for something more than "this is all bs". Just saying that it's "incorrect", without providing any evidence to the contrary, is not helpful. I would like to see what proof you have that a plants growth is not influenced by more than the 16 elements. Not that it can't survive with just 16 elements, but that nothing else in the growing medium influences growth & vigor. To me, the additional concern I have, is that Corporate Lobby milllions have eroded and corrupted government agencies and the descisions they make are no longer in "our best intrests", but only in the interest of being re-elected, only to continue the cycle of manipulation and greed for personal profit by Big Business. An out of hand general dismissal of a 10 page expose that might enlighten others as to how politics affects every aspect of our lives based on your personal opinion is disingenous and counter productive. IMHO

And using the source of info as the basis of its reliability is wrong? So if the crack head down the street told you that crack is a cure all you would believe him?
I read more than enough info to try to sort out the horse shit all the time, so once you have proven to me you are not a good reliable source of info, i will no longer use you, simple as that. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of what Rosebud really is.......

For wetdog #16 & truno #17.........I get that Rosebud is a commercial publication with an agenda. And that past experiences may prevent you from believing what they say. That does not negate the fact that there is some useful information here to someone who doesn't understand why all ingredients may not be listed on a product label. btw, as for the crack head down the street, if he told me my house was on fire, I'd at least turn around and look...

Rosebud is and Advanced nutrients editorial. Not to say that it's wrong, but it's really biased.
I use a few of there products cause some of them are pretty good, but most of them are unnecessary.

It's never a good idea to be 'taught' by the same people that are trying to sell you something.
