But the bible does not say to ACT on it. They are stories. Some of them F'ing ridiculous. It gives you commandments to follow and says repent your sins. I cannot speak for the quran but, why are we even arguing about this? they are BOTH religious text that rather or not it says to kill over, people do it anyways. Agree that we are not a bunch of sheep? agreed . . .
hmm... interesting. So those preachers and pastors calling for the death penalty of LGBT's aren't real? Or the laws that used to punish homosexuality with death or incarceration that were based on the bible? Someone should have told Oscar Wilde! It would have saved him so much trouble. What the bible says doesn't matter. It's how people interpret it that matters. The Inquisition, Slavery, Manifest Destiny, hundreds of years of Crusades and christian atrocities are Biblically based and justified.

Anybody calling for the death of somebody because of their sexuality is an extremist.

And the ultimate irony is that those preachers of hate are selectively forgetting the NT's statement about the irreducible futility of following the letter of the law. cn

Uh huh . . . i just fully agreed with you on that but just cannot agree that it tells you to commit those things. We are both right. :)

Yet people still commit acts of violence and justify it with Biblical teachings. The harassment and murder of Dr. Tillman. It was a Christian organization that hounded him and harassed him for years. He survived one murder attempt and continued to be bombarded by hate mail and publications listing his home and work address. His murderer went to his church and shot him down while attending service. A fellow Christian. The bombing of abortion clinics. Continued gay bashing and hate rhetoric from the pulpits. Disagree all you like. The proof is in the pudding. "By their works ye shall know them."

Sura (8:12) - I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
