Just wondering in general who actually harvests before 7 weeks.

If you do or have, then please explain why if full ripeness was not the reason.

Autoflowering strains :hump:

Otherwise they most likely did the n00b thing and cut them too early

I see a lot of seeds that say 6-8 weeks and actually I have some flwoering plants that just hit 6 weeks toiday and they are chunky, chunkier than some have at 8 weeks flowering

Short answer: fools.

In my experience, I've never found a strain that was truly ready under 9 weeks. People who harvest at 7 weeks usually dont know any better and have never really let a plant reach its potential. It could be there are super fast finishers i've never seen, but i've never seen 'em.

This is my fastest strain right around 7 weeks of 12\12, theres at least 2 weeks left on her.

My Mikado took 67 days. But what a beautiful 4 oz plant she was... I keep noticing this. My flowering time is way longer than what the seed breeder pack says. Sensi Stars said around 60-67 days they went over 80 days. Mikado said 45 days it went 67.. I have Blue Moonshine and Skywalker on day 50 of flowering and they look like they got another 3 weeks at least..

Breeders know that what people want are quick finishing high yielding plants. Thus, there are many plants out there that have been created to finish much quicker than all the others. Some of these "early" strains boast a 7 week finish and, I'm sure someone will figure out a way to create one that is done in 5 weeks or so.

So that just goes to show that the whole idea that people shouldn't grow bagseed cause you'll never know how long to flower argument is hogwash. If the "known" strains are taking just as long as the unknown strains, but cost "x" times more than FREE, then why should anyone buy seeds? Unless a person needs a specific medicinal strain that you can only buy from a breeder, then I can't see why anyone wouldn't just go with the bagseed? They're free, and there's always the adventure aspect of "what am I going to get?" that goes along with that. Just my opinion anyways

Humbolt's Bushmaster can knock up to 2 weeks off flowering if used properly. keeping the ppm's at the max and everything else ideal i harvest at 7 1/2 wks usually on a 9 weeker.

Well, I like the breeders seeds because they result in some amazing bud. My Sensi Star was some of the best bud I ever smoked and that was my first harvest and Ive been a regular herb smoker for 20 years daily. I just always assume that they will take at least 9 weeks no matter what the packs say. I have seen some amazing bud grown from unknown bag seed but I like knowing what Im going to get, even if I dont know the exact time it will finish. Theres mystery in breeders packs too though, out of a 5 pack of seeds all my plants grow up to be a little different from each other even if they are the same strain. If I had the room Id clone the bst ones and just keep those going but I dont have the space to take clones so I always have a bit of mystery. For example, out of 4 Sensi Stars I grew, two were identical to Breeder description and one was purple and one was oranger and tasted like pineapple.. so, theres some mystery in breeders packs. Right now I have 2 Skywalkers, 1 Blue Moonshine, and 1 Big Bang and 5 Exiles all flowering! Exiles are amazing BTW the bottom branches grow as tall as the top, its amazing the branching this plant has and I have to say that out of the 5 pack of Exiles they all look identicle so far very uniform very healthy and very dark green some leaves almost look black they are so dark

I'm with Cheech.. I just harvested some great bagseed plants, and I'm very happy. But, I had two Bubblelicious growing alongside them. Unfortch.. they went male, but before that they were superior in every way to my bagseed in growth, sturdiness, form, stretch..etc.

Again, no complaints, but my bagseeds had some issues that for wont of $25-40 could've been gotten around. You're putting all this other time and money into light, soil, nutes, pumps, fans, meters, on and on.. and you wanna scrimp $25 on the plants themselves?

And yes.. from my own experience and more importantly, the word I've seen from many experienced growers, harvesting before 9 weeks seems pure folly...

I have never harvested before 7 weeks on purpose, but I did break a stem off right at 7 weeks. It was an accident, and I wish it didn't happen but we'll see how the smoke is.

The time listed on the breeder packs are sometimes close...close to the time when you first see flowering. One good example is Ice. Been growing it for over 2 years now. Nirvana claims 8-10 weeks flower. It takes 10-14 days from the 12/12 switch before flower formation is apparent. After they start showing flowers, their flowering time is about right. I have never harvested ANYTHING in less than 9 weeks.
