White Cotton in Bud... 1-2 weeks from harvest... What is it?

I try to wait for at least 3 opinions before I do anything... And then go with the popular opinion... This time it turned out well... Entire top is chopped, which means it was cut about 2 inches below the affected area... So I'm hoping the rest of the buds, smaller, should get no mold and make it these last 2 weeks before I harvest the rest.

a couple months ago he went off on some people in a thread about AN. said anyone that used them was not a "real" grower and that the company was immoral and sold complete shit. in one of my finest troll investigations i stumbled upon these lovely pics on the website for his store that he claims to own. he went on tilt after that...it was the end for him. some guys make it too easy. he also posted a picture of his plants under his puppet account after he got called out a few days ago. it wasn't pretty.

try reducing the humidity in the room if you can. that will help prevent any further outbreaks. i keep my flower room humidity around 35% just to avoid those problems.
 
Lol. This has taken an interesting turn... Ill grab popcorn too, and a bowl.

Back to my prob though... How the hell do I get the humidity down lower than 45%? Obviously a dehumidifier, but those run HOT and in a closet I think it would be counter productive.

i think 45% is acceptable, my humidity is around 60% when the lights come on and down to 40% by lights off and i have only once ever had a mold problem (and this is in my garage). and even then i probably only had mold because my furnace was broken and it was november. keeping the furnace going out there is a must in winter.

increasing air circulation is a good way to prevent mold (not a good idea once you have mold though, as others have noted).

I agree, you are going to be okay as long as you are under the 50's, if you are paranoid just throw another fan in there.

Well considering its never been above 45% I am a bit paranoid now... Extra fan has already been put up. I'm learning as I go along that it's better to use more than not enough with everything eexcept nutes... My first grow was killed off from root rot because the water temp was too high and only one air stone... Now I monitor my dwc temps and have 3 air stones... Now I guess next grow I'll make sure to have a good amount of fans going all the time. I'm just happy I caught this before it ggot to them all (crossing fingers)... Only lost half of my top bud... The other half is drying right now.
 
Got the pop corn what did I miss , sad to here it's rot man, you described something diffrent at first, I kinda keyed on the consistent white cottony look, like I said. If It ends up a diffrent color you got mold.
 
If you can see the mold on the the outside your prognosis is grim my friend, at this point if you were to slice her in half you'd probably find her to be layered with that fog shit to the core. Sucks but no worries man, happens to the best of us. No need to even try and salvage that, cut it off and take it outside. Hope it helps.

Agreed in general. Trouble with bud rot is it's like an iceberg ... only a small portion shows until you get to trimming. OP, please excise the badness with extreme prejudice. cn
 
Well the entire top is gone so I did everything I could... Only time will tell how the rest of the buds do... Since I took the top off will this slow any down? Since the plant has been stressed do I need to add in more time to finish? Just curious...

it will happen and does happen, and did happen cuz there it is...We can try to say it is something else, but for real I just had to take down plants because of this so I am positive that it is in fact bud rot...

you could duct in dry air from a remote dehumidifier in another room, and let the heat go into the rest of the house.

i don't think it will slow anything down, that's never been my experience.
 
Cool... Sucks when you have to learn like this... I'm sitting and bitching to my wife about everything (she could care less but I don't give a shit, I'm baked... Isn't this the shit they pull with us?)... Anyways... I'm sitting here thinking, well I'll make sure to do this next grow... Sucks I have to wait like 3 effing months to get to that point again! Oh well... Bowls up! Maybe this will make me fell better... The half of the top I saved... It's about 1-2 weeks premature... Had about 2% amber trich, and the rest were split between cloudy and clear... After I dry and cure it... Will it be potent at all? I know it's going to smoke like shit probably because I obviously didn't flush... But what can I expect from the stuff I had to chop today.
 
And if it helps any.... I haven't smoked any good weed in about a year... it's been BS weed for me because that's all I can get... $100 an OZ crap... Can I expect what I cut down today to be better than the crap I've been smoking?

you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. although, i've never done hydro at all, so i don't know exactly how important flushing is at that stage. but the potency won't be far off, it will probably just be a bit different of a high.

Almost certainly, after a good jar cure. Fresh weed tends to be harsh. cn
