When to pick

Hi. I was wondering the hairs on the buds at the top part of plant have already almost all turned brown but the smaller buds at the bottom part of plant the hairs are still white. Should I wait for hairs on all the buds to turn brown or harvest now. Gorilla girl xl auto flower. First sign of seedling was on 5/20. So about 10 weeks now.

Thanks everybody. Glad I asked first. Was going to go home and harvest tonight. Seems like it took longer than it should have. Is because of a not that strong light. Using a 600w older led light. But just bought a 1000w lamp with Samsung leds for next time.

I would wait... Im not familiar to growing autos so i dont know if this applys to them but i always harvest according to crystal/trich color. I wait for like 25% clear 25% amber% 50% milky.. but this is a prefrence thing to each grower..

well said, I generally look for a little amber.

i find myself looking at the microscope less and more adjusting my eyes and nose to the scent, look and feel of a plant that’s ready, you get the feeling you’re looking at a fat bag of fresh nugs but it’s still on the growing plant- there’s just a vibe of “done” and the time is here.
I like staggering the harvest of the plant over a couple weeks, moving the plant closer to the light source as it gets chopped down. This is in part because I most always pollinate a few lower branches and the seeds need more time generally to get to their sweet spot.
Side note, the lightly seeded herb is what i end up with for myself, and it’s amazing!

I have limitied time and I have to harvest either way. I am having a surgery done and can rely on my wife to open the jars while curing and thats about it. So I plan on drying in about a week and half to make sure i can get to final curing before aug 22. Otherwise I would wait. I guess well see how this one turns out. Going to try a jack herer seed that I have next time.

You want the buds to be as ripe as possible for potency, flavor, yield and all that. Those are looking like they have at least another week or two (it all depends on strain).

I have noticed most strains trichome heads do not turn amber/white until the hairs on the buds have turned orange like this. When buds are truly ripe you will see it, they look like they wanna swell and pop and the hairs will be dark orange. Many signs, this plant had another 7 days before chop to give you an idea.
