when to fertilize

plants look good and green are they ok or can i push them alittle and add fertilzer??
How can i know when the plant needs fertilizer?

You can push a little but do it sparingly and wait about a week before adding more. But the old saying goes, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

If your still in veg, you need high nitrogen levels to promote growth. If the plant doesn't have enough nitrogen, the leaves will start to turn light green, then yellow-green, then yellow. If your unsure and want to play it safe and not overfertilize, wait for this to start. Like Phenom420 said, over fert will burn leaf tips.

the reason i ask is i hear of so many people adding fertilizer but i used a 6 month slow release potting soil NPK is like .05 or something really low but its been about 3 months and the plant still look a pretty green and is doing very well
i see some people talk about adding 15 8 8 and all these high ferts when mine is doing well with such a low amount..

Slow/extended release fert in your soil is something you don't want. Usually they slowly burn the piss out of your plant.

If they are doing well it's prob because they haven't ran out of nutes and you got lucky, adding nutes now will probably cause you some heartache

lucky maybe.. i have 9 plants 4 outdoors and 5 indoors all are in slow release and 7 are doing great 2 still alittle small so i added ferts to them and gona see what that does .. if it burns i know not to add if it helps good :)

I lost my 1st indoor try to MG soil last year
it extended killed my babies.

Hope you had better luck than I did
