When to clone? What to do..

i read that cloning from clones is not recomended as it is like making a copy of a copy. eventually the ink (potency) will fade over time, even though it is still the same document (genetics). keep a healthy mother plant which will be your original document to make copies from. if you don't have room for it, make some. your "tree of life" will outlive you if you treat her right.
While that may be true in printing, it is definitely not true in plants. A clone is an exact duplicate of the mother plant. In fact a Haas avacado as in Every Hass avacado all came frome one tree genetically they are Identical but they are ALL clones of clones. They did not all come from ONE tree. Well they sorta did but you get my point. Apple trees the same. FACT If MJ is different I cannot fathom why.

WTF, as long as the pot has been stirred...........some of you may know that I do not support amateur breeding and here is why. For example ...........
the Hass avacado tree was a fluke. It was one in a bazillion shot. an accident of nature. If one spent ones entire life trying to create the same avacado he would fail. Many have tried and most fail. Entire university breeding programs with the best minds in the field spend DECADES trying to do what nature does best and that is to create a better fruit. Very few succeed. Nature does it best because she has unlimited time and resources and occasionally some help from us. I personally have no interest in whether or not you waste your time trying to breed a better fruit. It's your life and have at it but try to do so responsibly without spreading your bagseed pollen all over my hybred outdoor grow.
Which brings us back to cloning. Take a proven strain with the qualities you want and if someone has not totally fucked up the good strain with bullshit amatueish breeding campains that strain will survive for eternity as pure as the day it was cloned the first and the last time.

Well, this thread is from 2007, but the points are well made. Cloning will provide a genetic equal, potency stays the same no matter how many clone successions, and you can clone from a plant as soon as you have a 4-inch branch with several nodes on it.

The health of the mother will determine the speed of rooting and the early vigor of the slip, but once she is rooted she is on her own to grow vigorously.

I personally wont clone past 2nd generation.. Meaning I will clone a clone.. But will not clone a clone of a clone. but then again, I love to switch my strains up so no need.

Clones have been taken, The Blue spec CFL has been put on a timer set at 18/6 and I used Clonex Rooting Hormone Gel.. I also cut the bottom cm of each of the stems at a diagonal angle and cut a majority of the leaves in half.. to promote root growth instead of more foliage up top :) I'll keep my fingers crossed they take root soon :) - STELTHY :leaf:
