Humidity is a big problem with the cooling system he is talking about. the humidity will go way, way up. How this system cools is by evaporation of water. Hense HUMIDITY.. Mold, Mildew.. not good.

My AC unit only uses 6 amps of power when it is on its cooling cycle, which is not that often. maybe 15 minutes per hour. and it can only turn on during the 12 hours the plant has lights on. so only 12 hours. It does not take a very big AC unit to cool a decent sized grow room. I have my turned on at 4/10 power for cooling. this keeps my room at about 75-78F. Perfect....... My plants are showing me their LOVE.

Go Cheap, Grow Cheap..

ok you should have no problem with humidity its the same as a AC but instead of freon in it its water they sell them a all hydro shops but they cost to much like $600 so instead you can buy a radiator and that will cost you $30 bucks at a junkyard im going to have it all together on the weekend im not useing a fan on it tho im going to put it over my intake hole and suck the air threw it my fan will suck threw it really good my fan is 1400 cfm but i have a speed control on it so i can set it at the speed that i want the more air the better

well i have the radiator for my passive air cooler i got a thick one the more contact with the air the better i have heard that it will cool the room off to the same temp as the water or close to it and my well is ice cold i will post pic up tomorrow of the build

Olds442, I am sorry to tell you, but an AC unit does not work even close to how a swamp cooler works. In a Swamp cooler, the water is ran over the outside of a radiator type section, that has air blowing over it, the evaporation is what causes the cooling of the air. With an AC unit, the REFRIGERANT runs inside tubing, in one section it goes into a vacuum, which makes it evaporate, the other section is put under pressure which makes it condense. I know this to be true.

If you do not believe me, go ask any AC repair man. Putting a swamp cooler in a grow room is not as very good idea in my opinion. Unless you want HIGH HUMIDITY.

Freon is a brand of refrigerant.

what if i have a pump and no airstone? I am just running it directly in.. I am going to order one, however I dont have it yet.. Should i keep it running? its an aerogarden

it will do ok, until you get your stones. But i would get the stone in there as soon as possible.

Some air, is better then no air.

so the stone basically distributes the air from the tube?

Which way do the aerogarden growers here go in with the tube? I was thinking a hole where there is no plant and then just sealing it up

Sounds good. Good to try to keep it above the water line if possible. When you put some types of Nuts, with certain type of sealants. The sealant will eat away. Not all things in Nature or man made get along well with each other.

im sorry to tell you buddy but your wrong about what im making first of all way would you run the water on the outside of a radiator the water runs in said the rad it just like a car but instead of hot water its cool water and then you pull the air through the rad if you dont know what im talking about go to your hydro shop and there they will be but for more money i will see if i can find one on the net oh yha im sorry but you are right about them not working the same as a AC unit the swamp cooler that is

I have seen these units. and the ones I saw had to have the water cooled. because at room temp it does not cool much. But you are correct, they do not put humidity in the air. Plus they do not take it out. The AC unit will take some humidity out of the ambient air. Put up a link on this system if you can. But for me, so far. this little AC unit is doing a great job for very little money.

Sorry I did not understand what you were talking about, they also call the item that the water flows over in a swamp cooler,,, the radiator. Still seems like that unit will use a lot of elect to cool the water. But i have never used one, or worked around one, so I do not know.. let us know how well it works. :)

I would have to agree with chabnock in regards to chiller being worse than a ac. They add quite a bit of moisture to the room, so you will need to get a dehumidifier to compensate. herefore making it more costly. I know this as i have been there.
I used to run 2 4 fan chillers with a dehumid running 24 hrs pullin about 20 gallons a day outta the room.

I have been tinkering with an idea tho. In lotsa places in the lower mainland, they watch your water usage :finger: because they know growers use lots of it.
So how about running ur tubing from the rad, into a chest freezer, and then pump it back up into the rad again. Now antifreeze doesnt freeze, so fill the deep freeze with that and run that through the tubes.

anyways i still think its better to buy a nice ac it does 2 jobs in one right?
good luck and happy growing in the most beautiful place in the world

well you guys are not reading what im saying there will be no more power used by my air chiller and if you would have read that i have a well the puts out 30 gpm ktos.604 os fuck the city and its water its going to be a passive air cooler and it will not put more humidity in my room and if it dose my dehumidifier will take care of it ok

I don't understand why you guys are trying to waste money on ac for when the air outside is 70-80degrees. Work out a plan to suck that cool air in to cool your area, not to mention the Free C02!

ummm

shutup
i hate you

its 100 degrees out

and like 115 most of the other time

im bring in the air from out side and its hoter then in the room well  most of the times i have my light on at night so i can use the cool air but when the lights are off it trys to get hot so im makeing this to cool the air down and i was told that it will cool the air down to the temp of the water or close to it and thats all i need my well puts out really cold water my wells 245 feet deep so it really cold and if i can make my room cooler then i can use my other 1000w hps for flowering
