what if weed was dried out 100%, sealed in a jar, then remoistened just before use?

what effect would storing/curing totally dry have on your smoke? i do plan on remoistening with humidifier disk before its actually smoked. im wondering if it was stored on the dry side how it would be because i kept the last batch at the "smokable " moisture level and it got powdered mildew puffs

I don't know if I would suggest drying it out 100%. It needs some moisture in the bud to keep it all together. Remoistening the bud definitely works though. There are a few different ways to do it, some better then others. I suggest you just keep a better eye on the bud and remove any signs of mildew. I would think drying the bud out wouldn't necessarily be good. I just know it works...

Try just a single jar after your next harvest. There is no better way to find things out then by doing it yourself. Post your findings.

as long as the buds were in the jar and kept still i dont see how being dry would would be a negative. the bud could be remoistened for weight and burn speed just before smoking. i watched my jars like a hawk and aired them every day. i was smoking it too and it was good. then overnight it just decided to be ruined by mildeww. it was kept at a smokable moisture level which is too wet i guess. anyone know why dryness would produce a nugetive effect?

Ur just wasting time..... let's say you hang it an extra week. I'm already a week into my cure.... ur not. Ur weed may very well crumble when handled...mine won't.

I don't see an advantage.... so what's the point? Only change if there is an advantage to be gained.

the advantage would be no chance of mold. i wouldnt handel the nugs in the jar. they would be curing, just curing dry which is what im wondering about. Why is h2o good during curing when wet dark condition = problems. obviously nugs got to be moist to weigh and smoke right but you could do that a few days before smoking. i want to cure for a long time like they say. i cant beleive h2o sitting on organic material for this long would make it better. i know it facilitates chem processes like ridding chloryphil but couldnt this be just done done a few days before you know the stash is on to its destination?

when you are 'curing' your buds, what is actually happening is this:

when your bud is hanging, it does not dry evenly. moisture levels on the the outside layers of the bud end up relatively low while on the inside layers moisture remains high. this leads to dry crumbly buds which have a 'green' taste in the long run.

when you cure, your letting the remaining moisture in the interior of your buds spread out evenly thru out the bud.

think of it like have a dried out sponge... and you sprayed a lil water in line up the middle. after a few hours the whole sponge should be soft but not moist.

too much moisture when you start the curing process is usually what leads to mold. outside contamination is very difficult to avoid, and if your nugs are too damp going in you just gave the spores a perfect incubator to breed.

this is also why i would also avoid 'rewetting' buds you have let get dried out, unless you plan on smoking them right away. molds and fungi breed like wildfire in warm damp dark places (like inside your stash in your pocket) and the presence of h20 in relative high levels is often the only trigger spores need to activate.

TY IM... yes it's called curing and it works perfectly if done correctly. As in life... there are no shortcuts to quality. Growing weed is all about patience, and timing, .
