What Ever Happened to Glenn Beck...

Ultimately, my point all along has been why I dont listen to Glen Beck anymore and you have been doggedly arguing about REM...

Have I mentioned lately that you are an idiot?
What a relief.
Certainly much better than when you use to source your links from him and repeat his talking points ad nauseum

Okay, that’s not quite as weird as it sounds. Rare earth metals are crucial
for a wide range of electronics, from fluorescent bulbs to iPod headphones to
hybrid vehicles. And China
produces 95 percent of the world’s supply. So when
China began sharply restricting exports in 2010 — allegedly to give its own
industries an advantage — the global prices for rare earths skyrocketed. Bad
news.

And as I said before

So what happened here? One key thing to note is that, despite their colorful
name, rare earth
metals
aren’t actually all that rare. At one point or another during the
twentieth century, Brazil, India, the United States and South Africa were all
major producers. It’s just that, in the 1980s, China decided to ramp up
production massively, driving out competitors and cornering the market. (China
managed to do this, in part, by going easy on environmental oversight of
mining, which can be a
horrifically dirty process
.)
Good news if you live in Canada. There is a huge deposit being explored currently.

i always liked his show on fox... never signed up for gbtv or listened to him on the radio. He cried a little much for my tastes but overall i dont see why everybody hates him so much. hes no farther to the right than moore or mahr are on the left and you dont hear shit about them.

I thought Glen Beck was going to lead some campaign to save our country? Whatever happened to that? That's why HE SAID he stepped down from FOX... right?

Michael Moore is a lardass, but Glen Beck is a whineass. And that's why people don't care for him.

How many times did he sit on tv and cry about mommy dearest and blah blah blahhhh. Get over it.

He's a showman masquerading as a journalist, wrapping himself in false glory and cheap flash.

His failed rally was good for a laugh though, and he knows how to bleed a stone when it comes from sapping a little more money out of his freightened listeners'. Those are 2 things I do give him credit for. Fundraising and fear mongering.

*NOW he wants to build a little Beck-topia gated community. He's already stockin up on Kool-Aid and ratpoison I hear.

Glen Beck is a bat shit crazy loon. Bill Maher is a comedian.

Do you also find similarities between horse manure and airplanes?

No, he wasnt correct. He stated that China had 98% of the minerals and they were going to embargo them. There are deposits in other places in the world that make his scare tactics moot...
The Chinese government did announce they were going to reduce exports. Something about needing more for their own use. I suspect it was more to compel other nations to manufacture their electronics in China than for domestic consumption. Rare Earth materials can be found in other areas, but environmental and safety issues make them expensive to mine, and thus have not been explored much. Environment and safety are not concerns in China.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer....he has been somewhat successful in his endeavor to build an alternative entertainment platform with the Blaze and GBTV, I have to grudgingly give the guy some credit for generating lots of cash flow with his unique blend of cornball histrionic material. I most decidedly lean to the right on the political spectrum, and having listened to Beck for many years off and on (radio show), his show was vastly more entertaining before he achieved his notoriety. He is indeed a doofus, and his radio show is virtually un-listenable these days.Oh well.:blsmoke:
Hearing Glenn Beck without the accompanying blackboard diagrams, flow charts, and lists just isn't the same.
