What causes small leaf syndrom?

I have spent about a week off and on looking for answers to this question without any luck at all.

Both of my prior grows that made it to harvest had smaller leaves than many grows I've seen. It seems more often then not indoor grows have smaller leaves but not all by any means.

Are smaller leaves a side effect of something else or better put is there a specific cause for this trait?

I thought maybe lights because everything else is in good order.

My lights are 3500k Samsung f564b strip lights that are top of the line, very similar to cobs.

Thanks!

Lot of things can cause small leaves. Light, medium, environment, watering habits, nutrient habits.
Do you top your plants?
If you do leaf size will not likely compare to un topped plants grown under HID.
Touchy topic right? lol
I purchased an QB 288 v2 for a grow comp coming up and look forward to trying it soon but I don't recall seeing pictures of LED grown leaves on RIU as big and with as many blades as my HID grown leaves.

How many blades are we talking here?

Yes I top and usually once early then half way through veg and then right before flipping to even out the canopy. When I top the second time I top every branch. Then when it comes time to even the canopy I top the tall ones and remove the low ones.

Never considered that.

I'm growing hydro/hpa and all my grows have been. I wonder if hydro/hpa have smaller leaves as well?

Thanks again!

Now I have new branch nodes on a few branches turning 180 degrees and growing downward. Not just turning upside down but actually growing directly down from the node. I also have 1, 3, 5 and 7 finger leaves. I think my high dose chlorine stressed the shit out of my plants, luckily I switched to h2o2 and all is good now.

Environment, topping, training in a scrog, strain. All give me smaller fans than just letting the plant do it's thing. And I'm growing under Samsung strips.

Thanks but I still struggle to see how it relates to the thread? Are you stating that adding beer to your hydroponic solution increases leaf size?
