Weird Mold happening only when plants are near death

So I've noticed recently that when I forget to water or the plants start to sag a bit they start to grow this weird ass brown "mold" on the stems. Doesn't look like powdery mildew and they have spidermites but on close inspection it isn't moving and I don't think its that. Any suggestions? I've had plants that died before and never did this but literally every single plant that gets this way starts getting this "mold" and I dont have any powdery mildew in my grow at all. Maybe its the spidermites gathering at the top of the plant as the plant dies? I have not put it under the microscope but again to the naked eye it looks more like fungus.

Thats fucking gross I've never had that before. Weird that I could have a plant anywhere in my house not touching any other plant and if they start to wilt they get it... must be on all my plants already just waiting for them to die or something. weird shit. What is good insect killer for that

I'm not 100% on that man. I got hit with either russet or broad mites a few years ago and I scrapped the whole patch. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in

The worst inflected plants looked like they were covered in brown fuzz with leaf edges curling up. Under a loupe the fuzz was moving

yea got the leaf curl and brown spots which are really tiny mites. Got "Smite" from the grow store which is a on contact killer but has to be sprayed repeatedly. weird, I've never seen this before but I guess I brought the in from outside one day like anything else.. huh
