Hi all.

Thought id put a new post on here to show everyone how its going.

WARNING!!! DONT USE A BRITA WATER FILTER-- i was using a brita water filter to filter my tap water. it was bringing the ph down from 8.5 to bang on 6.5 what i didnt realise was once the plants were watered the ph started creeping back up. i had some serious issues with leaves getting brittle and looked like they were tearing. so i flushed them all through and they seem to be doing alot better.

I have always used a brita filter never had a problem, mine starts out at 7.8 brita brings it to 6.8, gets rid of the chloromine they use in the water

I use brita water filter....fine 4 me

I fill a large tub with hose water and let it set open for a couple days, then Brita that before it goes on the plants. Works great, cause straight hose water makes my bottom leaves turn yellow.

so when i tested the runoff why do you think the ph went up to 8? the ph of the sterilized all mix soil is 6.2 i tested the water b4 i watered and it was 6.5

If the soil is 6.2, water is 6.5 and runoff is 8.0 you have something wrong with your meter or a problem with your medium. That's a pretty large jump.

I love seeing pics! They look so beautiful to me! I can not wait till my next grow so I can have some thicker plants! Not that my girls arent pretty but they are on the thin side!

PH changes as plants grow in soil and hydro. Soil has buffers and it tends to went to stay at a certain level. Using PH adjusted water normally fixes it, but if the soil constantly want to stay high you need to add something to help lower it.
I am a hydro guy so am not sure what soil additive lowers soil PH.
I am guessing your testing your run off and that's how you know the changes. I am sure a soil person will state what lowers PH, but using the proper PH to water helps lower each watering...but it is the time between watering that you "could" run into lockup problems.
