Viparspectra, meizhi, mars grams per watt?

With my last grow with VS(total of 3000W in four lights) I got from 2 to 3 ounce per plant. It is going to be more as I put cuttings outside and they will produce extra from a lot of popcorn buds on them. However I would not add it to VS achievements as they are sitting under the Sun now. The red spectrum is indeed very crappy on VS lights and their PAR series(I have PAR1200) are no better in this than their VS series.

Now roughly 16 ounces in 7 plants for 3000W(actual power draw is 1200W) is nowhere near 1 gpw even on actual power draw.

Hi amigo,

I have started out with 1 ViparSpectra 600W Reflector Series (cost 169$ 1 year ago) they consume 260w and yield me about 100-200g per run.
I have upgraded to 2 ViparSpectra 600w 1 Lamp per 1m². In 1m² I grow 6-9 plants in 7L pots. Each plant gives me 20g at least.

I started off with a sativa-hybrid (Jacky White) and always had problems, fluffy buds, odd looking etc.
Since I have taken this strain out and replaced it with some Royal Queen Seeds genetics (Royal Cheese, OG Kush, Critical, Bubble Kush of which I can recommend all except the Bubble Kush) everything is perfect. If am about to yield 1 lamp this week, if you message me I can show you a picture in private so you can see what to expect.

(20g/plant is my calculation and it seems to work, I have not had a chance to get exact yield measurements because I always smoke and give it away before everything has dried.. sorry)

Hopefully this helps. I know a lot of people talk a lot about ViparSpectra but all my friends who have been smoking for many years, some for decades, have no complaints.

Good luck for you

PS I dont agree with the american way of growing big and trained plants, I think overall it yields you less if you only have a certain amount of space/light coverage.

Ok I just read you decided to go with quantum boards.. I myself have invested into Amare SE 300 for christmas. Hope to get the lamp soon. If you are willing to wait I can report you exactly how much better it is then my vipars :)

I believe you have it reverse. Training plants produces more in a smaller space than a larger one. If you max the colas in the tent (super crop and stem abuse for strength with a silica additive and then top it a few times). Keep the overall colas to a reasonable amount and you have a lot less trimming to do as well. Then by trimming out the larfy shit you get all of the focus on the colas and get maximum desnity in a small space.

Or to make a single plant fill a space better.

These were abused and topped and bent around under a scrog net to fill the space. I pulled the net to check something and 2 days later they went bonkers.

These are in a 90 x 50 x 150 cm tent. :) Fresh yesterday pic....first legal grow.

200 watt timber 2VL is the light in use.

I have gotten OVER 1g per watt using my vipar 300 and mars 300. Comes down to training, environmental conditions and nutrients as well as lighting.

I have also done another run with QBs and it was even better.

Don’t forget viparspectra sucks (see pic)
Which 300W light you like most? I tried Mars 300 two years ago. But never tried Vipar

I got .42 grams/watt last round. 8 plants in a 2x2, 5 ounces dried and cured, using a marshydro reflector 96 and a mars hydro 300. not the best lights at all but have served me well for 6 runs now
How many total watts?
Reflector 96 is 100 watts how many is the hydro mars actually?

Hey, no. But I see what you are saying. For me personally I have found that more plants on a small place yield better. But maybe I have overtrained or overstressed them, which I guess is always a risk. 9 plants in smaller pots left untouched will fill out the space as much as will 2 or 3 trained plants.. or as I believe, will do even better. Work- and effortwise I find it is about the same, depending on how much careing and defoliation one does. But well, to each his own I guess. Just sharing my personal experience. I do not claim absolute truth for anything I say.

Have a nice day

a big downside of the less plants way is, if you lose one plant, you will lose 1/2 or 1/3 of your yield. If you have 9 plants you only lose 1/9th.

I think both you guys are correct.... much of how we train our plants can be strain specific! Atleast that’s what I think

The only advantage of a smaller plant count with more training is that many people are legally limited to a certain number. I can get just as much out of a 2 plant scrog and i can running 6 to 8 in sog, it just takes a bit more time and a lot more effort. If i didn't have plant counts to worry about i would most likely run clone in sog.

20g is good for a start but you can do much better. In my first grow I used 3 x 600W ViparSpectra(the same as yours) in 4x2 feet shed and I got about 25-28 grams from each of eight plants I had. All LSTed once.

Second grow with extra ViparSpectra 1200 PAR added and LSTed 3-4 times I got from 2 to almost 4 ounces per plant. That's all dried weight.

ViparSpectra is not bad in general but crappy for flowering. It just does not have enough red spectrum. I am in the process of ordering 2x 3000K QB288s(similar to HLG 550 v2) to replace at least 3 of ViparSpectra 600W. If it works better I am going to replace ViparSpectra 1200 PAR with one extra set of QB288.

Hi,
I agree, I could do much better and it is getting a little better with each grow.
I have got my Amare SE 300 since 2 Weeks and will have a direct comparison of 6 plants that have been vegged and flowered under the Vipars up to week 3 of flower when the new light arrives. Maybe I will show the differences, if they are of any significance. But yes, the Amare is a completely different light, it is so bright I get headache. Good luck with the quantum board. Maybe can you let me/us know of your experiences

This is mars 192 reflector series..430 actual watts and 2 300 wat mars 150 actual watts each. Have done around 10 grows with these. Not realy as tight of buds as id hoped but def. Got my moneys worth. Diods started going out on my last grow so went and spent 250 bucks on a 1000w hps. Here is my last grow with mars20181122_062045.jpghope this helps
