lol while your waiting for the a51s have you considered taking the lens off for a wider spread?
I finally got around to trying that, and it made a huge improvement -- so thanks for that. Like I mentioned earlier, its a scrog so penetration is not as important, but reaching the whole canopy is. I lowered the light a bit as well, so with those improvements the wait for more suitable lighting is not as critical as it was. By the way, the replacement lighting is no longer the W90's, I cancelled the pre-order and the refund is paying for a 6 Cree 3070 series build. That will reach all the whole room nicely.

From the way its looking? 120watt White Alien will out yield the 200watt White Alien this run do to slight pheno variation. Not much, but a little.
Very strong stable genetics from the DNA White Alien
I am looking forward to seeing the yield # from 120watt this run.

Hey man, I read your comments a few pages back and am totally bummed right now for the shitty experience you encountered on my behalf... however I can tell you what went wrong with the module. The misaligned hole wasn't level-flush with the rest of the surrounding surface, as you pointed out, tied together with the fact that the pre-applied TIM was super slim, creating just enough surface separation between the TIM and COB that it, slowly over time, overheated. @SupraSPL 's past work concerning heat sinks is spot on, just like everything else he so kindly provides us with, and so it's not that the heat sink+fan combo wasn't enough, as they are rated for ~100W but that I simply fucked up. It was soon after I sent you your fixture that I scrapped the idea of using pre-stock paste, as using aftermarket TIM, such as MX2, makes it x100 easier to file down drilled/tapped holes and allows for super-fluid applications between TIM and COB, thus ensuring the ideal bond that is necessary to keep COBs running cool and effective.

It's only right that I make it right on my end, as you have held up your side of the bargain all of this time and have always kept me in high esteem, even venturing to take a chance with my creativity in it's earliest, most imperfect stages; let me prove my commitment and dedication to you by upgrading whatever you have left, I'll pay for everything, including shipping costs.

I apologize things didn't work out the way they were ought to. I'd like to think that what we learn from what happens in any given scenario, good and bad, helps us ultimately become better.

Why do you guys fuck around with paste when silicone or graphite work as well if not better and is a gazillion times easier to work with????? I've never had any problems with either COB or Illumitex based DIY rigs using those methods. Re-usable too. The only reason to use paste is to Kapton mount COBs IMHO.

And AP want to get an edge? Go to any LED design show and see how many people and little companies are making lighting using little to no aluminum cooling nowadays. That's the future. Start thinking how to use your case to help cool your rig and not just worry about cooling the lights you use.

I received an email from Opticgrowlights saying that they have transitioned over to new ownership and they plan to continue to give growers an option on many different variations of COB based fixtures at competitive prices. They also said the Promo HIGHYIELD will still give growers 10% off.
I have a couple Snake Venoms ,LemonOgs, Cotton Candy Canes in transition now and Golden Cobras,Orca, Viper City Og, veggin out. I will have new update pics of the Vero garden as soon as the new camera gets here? Been using an oldie and finally life over.
