I don't know the 3M had played a major factor, but the rim/burs made it happen. I don't think the sink was perfectly flat neither?
Looks to be CNC'd with no finish work whatsoever?
I wasn't implying that the 3M product is at fault, but if AP knew how to apply TIM, he would have understood how to install the COB with either the 3M product or TIM correctly.

Thanks Jimmy for making this thread and testing both of these manufactures units and giving your honest opinion.. Their is a wealth of solid info here for people trying to make good decisions about which lamps best suit their needs. I considered both of these companies products but ultimately went with Area 51 largely in part to their proven track record with earlier production units. So we will see how that goes..

Sorry you took a hit on the Heaven Bright. I tried this from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Helios-Spectrum-Plants-Vegetative-Flowering/dp/B010AHES00/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440961073&sr=8-1&keywords=helios+led and after 12 hours two of the six modules went out, then 12 hours later, two more went out.. I returned it for a full refund and gave them a one star review to warn other peps to not waste their money but that review isn't even posted anymore.. I guess the seller got amazon to remove my review.. thats shitty business in my book.

They look like the old force series from optic(resold by many under dif name)
Thats is messed up? They try to get people to think they are Heliospectra! That's a main problem facing the LED horticulture lamps! Its just dirty and they should be ashamed themselves!
As far as taking a hit? Its the 1st time I actually lost$ on this game! I say game because I really do mean that. Ive had a feeling and I have had it for quite sometime that this market at a very high%? China made with parts mostly from china, some quality parts source from around the globe. We are americans! I want made USA back. Even if I gotta pay more. I want my brothers/sisters building these fixtures, not some 12 year old chinaboy.

yeah. i'm gonna call amazon and have them re post my review that's bullshit they told it down. the seller must have emailed my 6 times asking me to remove my negative posting in broken english and I refused. idk how they got it removed but they did. On the bright side but of the companies you reviewed are stateside and use top of the line components. I like that. Hopefully they can correct some of the problems that were bought to light from your evaluation. Those shysters on Amazon are another story.. They are advertising Cree components but I seriously doubt it..

Anyone interested in the new CXB/Vero29 production fixtures? I got some good news and some bad news.
Good news1st. There will be no preorders, When the site goes live? buyem and receive immediately. Come to conclusion that when someone buys one?> They need it now not then.. I am keeping in touch daily.
Bad news. Not gonna be able to buy until 7-14days
There will be no CXB200 in the 7th cup comp. Gonna pull out a 2x2 Osram Zelion for that.
As soon as I receive the CXB200? I will start a Grow,Company Info and Customer Service thread. 240watt Vero29 4000K fixture will also be demonstrated.
:peace:

nice grow, but how about on your next run, fill the tent up for a full canopy and then see how the lights perform ?
depth of penetration through a full canopy should really show off the lights and show how good the spread is.

I can't speak for the 200's, but this is what a pair of 120's looks like 18" over a 4'x2' (probably overcrowded) scrog. You can clearly see how weak the light is towards the edges. It's tempting to suggest that I lower them for more intensity, but then the spread just diminishes even more.

If my A51 W90's ever show up, I'll spin the 120's 45 degrees and put the pair of w90's stacked in the middle... if they don't show up any time soon, I guess I'll be finding out what the 120's can produce on their own.

Last run with 200watt Vero29=214g CottonCandyCane
This run with 2Aliens? I am expecting 400g for 320watts vero.
I am happy with performance
Spread is an issue optics if I was to get picky.

are you running with the lenses ?

lol while your waiting for the a51s have you considered taking the lens off for a wider spread?
When I asked about that (here or in another thread?) distilling down the responses, the consensus was that without the lenses the lights are only marginally useful... but since its a scrog, maybe I'll try it. Lights come on at 10pm, I can take a look then. I even contacted Optic about this, and they strongly recommended keeping the lenses on, but referenced it for penetration reasons primarily.

But the bottom line, its not enough light for the space I'm expecting it to cover, my bad for not doing more research before purchasing. If you were to start a DIY thread and ask how many Vero 18's would be recommended (with or without lenses) for a 4x2, I would bet the answer would be minimally 6, with several people recommending 8 (and then of course the other end of the bell curve recommending 10+).

It probably looks like I'm trying to dis the Optics, but I'm only mad at myself. I'm a newbie, and I did not understand that no matter the light company, you can not rely on their recommended footprints. You need to ask impartial experts, and luckily this site has a lot of them, so future buyers can spec their spaces more realistically using this better information. Using two 120's within their recommended footprint -- "Coverage Area: 36″ x 24″ @ 16″ above canopy" -- the lights are not going to kill my plants... they are just going to give me a very imbalanced scrog, with decent growth in the middle and significantly less around the edges.

Jimmy has one light over one plant, maybe he could measure the plant's width for us, but I'd guess that its canopy is within about an 18"x18" area -- which seems to be a reachable footprint from a 12(?)"-16" height during flower. In my humble opinion, that is a footprint that this light can do justice at. I am asking each of my two to light a 24"x24" area, that in my opinion is outside of their optimal reach.

The coverage measurements are 18in x 24in for the 120watt and 20in x 30in for the 200 from what I am getting.
IMO its all about your grow style. If I was gonna scrog? I would consider the 2 optic250s for the 2ft x 4ft7 area I use.
200watt Vero29 3000K 80 optic is my favorite fixture.

i'm using around 300-400 watts total in a 4x2, you might be ok with 6 vero18s or three of those units you have.
