hey gang,

i have a problem. i only have one idea on how to provide air and vent to a closet an woning if it woul work.

i have a large closet with only one wall that can be cut to provide air an vent. im going to make a 5x5 area with panda film to create a grow area. ill hang a 400 w light.

can i cut a hole low an place an inline fan to draw in air and cut a hole up higher to hang a carbon filter an fan for the vent? on the other sie of this wall is a refrigerator. id hie the holes behind it. ive always read the holes should be on opposite sides.

would a 4 inch inline fan be enough for intake an a 6 inch for the vent with scrubber?

Hey buddy, yes if you make a hole at the bottom for intake & at the top for extract you'll be fine - 4" & 6" will work, although maybe better to have them the same size...in any case you seem to know what you're doing so maybe you're just being paranoid haha :) good luck

Good idea bro...Cool tube will make things much easier.....get a cpl clip on fans(too move air in grow area) or something as well, and you are golden! :)

I recommend u cut 2 holes i the wall. one low and one high as far away from eachother as possible. Then put a 6" vortex style exhaust fan right up to the hole (or even outside the room on other side of wall) and have the exhaust run through your scrubber, through your hood or hoods, and out the top hole in the wall. This will allow you to put your carbon filter as far away as possible from your intake, thus getting max airflow through the entire room. If you can cut a larger hole in your wall for the bottom intake vent u most likely will not even need a fan just passive cool air flow should be fine as long as the hole is big enough u are not bottle-necking your 6" exhaust fan. So the line would be like this

Exhaust Fan <----<--- Hood ---<--<--Carbon filter

note: a 6" fan blowing both in and out may cause you to achieve positive pressure and may blow out your panda film and create air/smell leaks

yes i am worried about positive pressure. ill see how it goes with a larger passive intake before i add a fan. i will use fans in the grow area for sure. i always have the plants slightly trembling to allow the stems to grow strong an to move air around.

for a 5x5 area and a cool tube i should use a 6 inch filter and fan?

sweet sounds like a plan. ill use the rest of the closet in time. i want to add a veg area one day as well but it makes more sense to justfocus on one area at a time. thanks a bunch!

buy a vortex 6 inch and run it all the time and u will def never have positive pressure with just a passive intake. It is basically impossible. A large passive intake and your exhaust intake on the opposite side of room with a couple oscillators to prevent hot spots u will be golden. Provided u can intake like 75 or less degree air. A 6" fan will suck a lot of air in through the passive as long as it is large enough.
