I was just gonna say secretly feed the dog a lower quality of kibble food...

ROFL..then actually you need to feed him only protein because most dog food has lower protein so if you feed him a ham shank like I did one Christmas to my dog (pembroke welsh corgi) Toby..there's nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night to a dog who sounds like he's "swimming in something"..his tummy was so distended I thought I killed him.
