veg box build - unsure of a few things

Hey guys, currently working on a new veg box - my old one was my closet and that turned out pretty bad. Well that's a different story.

The box is in the process of being built as we speak pieces are cut to measurements as shown and covered in mylar..

Waiting on my next pay day to buy some extra gear and one of them home boxes for flower. Unsure about a few things especially lighting and venting.

Would the fans i have shown in the diagram be sufficient? Also would the grow space be sufficient for clones/seedlings? Would i need a reflector in such a small space?

one more question might sound a bit stupid but would the lights be ok in one position as shown in the diagram?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated,

I would use both fans for exhaust and use passive intakes, use the other fan to blow across the top of the plants and lights

hey dude - cheers for the quick reply. do you think the space is sufficient? what about the wattage of the lamps 125 or 250 i can fit either in there the 250s at a loss of about 4cm

2- 250 watt lamps is gonna be real hot in that small box i think.

if your not gonna use a cool tube im thinking 2- 150 watt lamps may be quite warm when you only got 2 foot ceiling

hey man it needs to be at least 3 ft tall, you have to think about stretching and how tall the pots are that you are going to be using. what kind of lights are you going to use?

id make it 4 feet high and it looks good but yea use cool tubes or the lower wattage so u dont have heat issues i would use a reflector but i would line the roof of the box of mylar

Seems like he just wants to *veg* in 2ft of space, which is possible, I do it myself. I would agree with the heat comments, I use four 27 watt cfl's and one pc cooling fan driving the exhaust and passive intakes. My temps stay near 85 degrees, even with the extra fan it would get hot. Luckily, I don't think you need that kind of light for that small a space, check out what I gots goin on, I can veg several plants on just the four cfl's I use.

I got ten daylight cfls in my veg box, its about two feet tall, two feet wide, and a foot and half thick




two of them are on the door of that box.

You can flower with no prob under 2ft, just lst or scrog, if you are just veggin in there you will be fine, it would also prob be cheap just to use cfls

Would you guys say that 2 125 watt eco lights blue specrum and a few of the smaller wattages dotted around would be 2 hard to control temps?

The whole box is covered in mylar and ready to be built.. i'm holding off on the build as i need to get the fans and some soil..aswell as a psu and few other small things, i really want to get this right first time around guys so keep the comments coming..

Hey guys,

Changed the setup around a bit got the 120mm fan for the box gonna be right on top above the light, also gonna have 2 passive intakes lower down... any ideas on how to light proof intakes without blocking airflow??
I was thinking black tights and a very light blanket over the top as it needs to be sorta stealth.. i will make a grow diary as soon as i start the plants.

gonna be 3ft tall 1 1/2 ft wide and 2 ft depth. Will this be enough to veg 4 plants? gonna get a 250 watt ecolight and a reflector, hopefully i can find one that fits. also gonna scatter smaller cfls around the box as needed.

For the passive intakes you can either use 2 90degree pvc connectors, or look up how to make a dark room vent

make sure you dont use foil for reflectivity

i suggest 2 - 4 two foot T5's, unless money is an issue.. then go with CFL's..

dude i found the perfect reflector that would hold 4 t5's while i was bored in work. It should fit perfectly in da box. what do you think of this?

I was thinking a 250 watt eco light Cannabox but you guys would know better than me.

that would be perfect. low heat. high lumens.. can always add more mounted on the sides of the box too for extra light.. you can buy them singularly, or in doubles with a slick clip mount system and daisy chain hookups.

you can do the MH econolight.. but i personally think it'll get too hot without cooltubing it. there is DIY cooltubes in the GrowFAQ though if you want to go that route.

get the 6500k bulbs.

* you are going to want to have that circulating fan in that at all times too.

there is a guy using that same ballast(reflector) you are thinkin about getting, except he has 2x 6500k and 2x 3000k bulbs in it, for a complete 96w grow. check it out.
