UV Suppliment Lighting

Visuals signs are serrated edges of leaves clawing upwards and general bleaching to a lighter shade of green, this would take longer to happen and sometimes will happen even if you dont over do it. Ive not seen it with my own eyes but its been quoted here and there over threads around here and other forums by people i trust their judgement.
I’m running 14% reptile bulbs about an hour a day and the highest leaves are a shade lighter, especially compared to other leaves up top that are being shaded

Mimic nature ?
Pulsing UV ?
Switch ON for 5 minutes ?
Calculate total power per day (DLI) and then average it per hour and dose the plants ?

In what way should the UV irradiation be used ?

Severe damage is very easy to be done to the plants ,when playing with such high energy photons.
There's a lot not studied ,not fully understood and some maybe remain still unknown .
Last but not least ...
The human eye ,unable to sense this kind of light ,can not respond to a possible high output power.
Eye lids won't close as a reflex to strong light ...
Meanwhile, the high energy photons will be nuking the cornea of the eye ...
( Has anybody here had a severe incident of " welding arc eyes " before ? )

For sure ,UV supplementation is quite tricky of a thing ...

Edit:
Almost forgot that one ...
The one million dollar question !

So,if THC and/or other cannabinoids
serve as sunscreen for the seeds ...
Or as insect repellent or even insecticide...
How come hemp (same species )that grows nearby with a resinous indica or a potent sativa ,under the exact same sun and exposed to the same crawling and flying threats ,will never produce significant amounts of THC ?
Still, hemp thrives without it nevertheless...

Is it that the UV radiation is really the trigger for THC biosynthesis or maybe not ?

Perfectly said..
Took a picture after leaving on for 12hours just to show the worst thing that could happen. 20200608_195358.jpg

I’m hopping on the T5 UV train, been thinking about it for a while so expect a shit ton of questions and pictures in the coming months lol. I got my hands on some Zoo Med reptile fixtures with the 5.0 uvb bulbs, just waiting on the 10.0 bulbs to be shipped. 2 X 48” for the flower tent and 2 X 14” for the veg tent.

I have a run with about 7-8 weeks to go in flower but after that I’ll be upgrading the flower light. The veg light I plan to change soon to expose my current veg tent to uv before the flip.

-1540 mexican pesos are 71 usd ...
Me thinks that is not so scary price ...

EDIT:
2.4 Watts are enough UVB radiation to distribute over -5 square meters ,
in order to match the UVB output of the sun on a summer sunny day ,sea level ,at equator .

I recommend to either use the Agromax powerveg+ bulbs (for US peeps) or the Arcadia D3dragon with 14% UVB/30% UVA (for EU growers). They both have almost the same spectrum and UV strength and their optimal hanging height is 12-16".
So if you were to implement the Argomax powerveg + bulbs would you start them right off at 12 hours per day? If I were to run these lights at about 38" spacing at what height would you imagine I would get the most even coverage? I also read about the dimmable ballast with the pure uv bulbs, would I be able to run like 8 or more bulbs off of a 2 bulb ballast to get the same effect as dimming the ballast? I guessing probably not?

Hey guys!
Looking to add some uv to my setup.
Need some help tho.
I hang my leds about 12-16” above the canopy. Need something that can run off 240 volt and Daisey chain together.
I have 2 4x8 tables with 9 fotops over each table so not a lot of room to squeeze more lights in. I am thinking 2 4ft tubes over each table?

If you wanted to go led i know kingbrite have some strips which match up in length with the fotops. they got uv diodes but not all the way down to uvb.

These QB20 are listed with a length of 890mm. They are a closer match in length to your fotops.
