UV Leds ?

Is there an UV thread similar to the "far red" one ? I'd like more infos about potential use and misuse of UV Leds. I'm not growing marijuana, but using LEDs for indoor greening (fragrance+vegetables). Does it really help fighting fungi and bacterial diseases ? How about inducing flowering ? What doses are dangerous ? Any imput is welcome; thank you very much.

based on kite highs posts here on riu i added a 54w t5 to my grow. it states that it delivers 12w of uvb.

Uvb diodes are crazy pricey and also very low power...as far as i know.

There is plenty of info online about safety and uv exposure. i kill the uv whenever i am attending to my ladies.

Thank you for your prompt response. I think there was once a SurpaSPL post about short wave spikes in high blue COB light (6500k+) inducing the plants to think it's actually beeing bombared by UVA/UVB.

See that's the whole thing how much and how long. When I used it I had it on for 2 hours a day and I liked what it did. Having said that i was using a VIPAR at the time so any amount of light was gonna help :).

Short period of UVB is good for plant, however if the time is too long, the plant will be buried/damaged. I am actually in the middle of developing a LED light Bar which is used as supplement light on the side, which contains 70% UVB and 30% Red.

My opinion is quite different ...
I've come up to the conclusion ,that the UV radiation has a minor positive effect (per growth cycle ) regarding cannabinoid and/or trichome concentration ,while at the same time the negative impact is / can be quite severe.

UV radiation should be used only while breeding ( under artificial lighting ) ,
in order to avoid / minimise the genetic drift ,towards a less phycoactive cannabinoid profile of plant(s).

Nevertheless , 365 nm diodes are more than enough for the job
and the radiation density should not exceed 10 W / sq.meter ,
while the duration should be kept under 6 hours per dia .

A highly phycoactive strain ( 20-30% THC ) will finish just fine
under normal 3K 80 Ra warm white LEDs.

In case that seed production is the priority ,
then UV radiation ,should help the current phycoactive cannabinoid profile of the mother plant(s),
to be passed-on to the next generation ,with minor or none of genetic drift ...
