Good god no wonder i toasted em if ur recomending only 5 mins at a time!!! Fact she finished at all is testament to their veracity as a plant
It could be run longer probably and 15 minutes on the hour has been recommended by others.

I'm sure 5 on every hour and work up and you can find the sweet spot.

You could also raise the light to a point it can be run full time. Just shut it off when working under it.

How well does it work for you?

Do you work under it while it's on?
i turn it off while inside, to run it the full12/12 cycle it has to be at the top of the room or tent for me. in past years i kept it 1ft away. i have not ruined buds, but have turned them crispy, while it brought out more resin glands, it helped me to learn which strains when more acceptable of the uvb mistreatment i exposed them to. i knew the risks when running them initially, after leaving the world of cfl lizard lights. i have read about running them in the middle four hours of the photoperiod to simulate the noon day sun. this current run i ran them for 1 week of 12/12, in between the cobs in the middle of the 4x4 tent.

Agro makes the UV+ bulb that is similar to powerveg,
Last wed this was possibly most beautiful plant I've grown, lush, growing fast just pretty, nice smell coming on... she's 5 weeks into flower. In coco, temps 75 to 78 max lows of 70ish.

I always run 1000w hps in contained hood, two 300w led, and two t5 uv bulbs plus few cfl if there's a shady spot. This is one big girl in small room, room is 6x6 she's 5x5 lst and scrogged flat.

First time I used t5 uv bulbs got the new hortilux powerveg uv. Started em midway thru flower on same schedule as other lights. Well wen I put this girl in flower one of the fixtures died the other was running a 6month old bulb.

Last week, I got a new fixture and two new bulbs, but got agrow pure uv bulbs cheaper than hortilux and I'm tite on cash, hooked em up Tuesday back on line. I worked in room wed night for couple hours. Friday I realized I was sunburned bad! I never got that from my hortilux bulbs. So sat I got to my girl n she looked stressed slight leaf curl and I shut off those fucking uv lights.

This is what they look like by today, I'm damn near in tears. She doesn't visually appear to be growing like she was and not drinking as fast...

I get uv hurt her, evidently new bulbs way more powerful and she wasn't used to it. It's not proximity to main light as issue as they were perfect before I bought that new fixture and got uv light going again,

At this point anything I can do to mitigate the sunburn she got or ride out n hope for best, oh smell is back to nill :(

I seriously want to cry
Jesus, sorry man. For you and plants.. Ouch. Yeah, Agro makes a bulb called UV+ like the powerveg you had, a couple extra drops of uv. But the Pure UV is a flamethrower of 100% UV, especially if that was the first time your plants saw it.. How many hours were you in there? I put a pure UV on separate switch, you're not supposed to be exposed to that bulb at all... They're really great for UVB...

Too bad no one told you. Hate to lose crops that way.
Yea, the guys at the store said they were equivalent to the hortilux, so I didn't have a second thought till I was sunburned and the plants were toast! I may use em again in a limited way someday but need a round or two I'm not worrying.... I did fine without any UV so I'm going to run UVless a few times then maybe get the guts to run em for short bursts. Or shitcan em and get some hortilux ones as those I ran the full 12 with no issue...

Put it on a digital timer for a few minutes on each hour about 3 foot off the canopy and put a switch or plug outside the grow area to turn it off when you go in.
