Using HVAC register to run ductwork

Greetings. I thought Id share a few pictures of my duck work. I have a cellar style/crawlspace basement, so, I thought this would be a great place to dump my lights cooling air. I removed the register cover and manuvered the HVAC box so I could duct tape half of it closed and then duct tape it into position... On the other side of the register's hole, I inserted the discharge end of my 6" ducting then sealed with duct tape. Easy peasy.

The fan/ cardboard monstrosity is in temporary place of a 6" in line duct fan that I have ordered and am waiting on delivery... That damn Golden Goat bud got me mad MacGyver-ish, though! I didn't want to wait till this weekend to complete the project... Honestly, except for its obnoxious size and appearance, it is working great! the temperature at my canopy is 78 degrees, down from the high 80s!

you can get the shrouds to put over the HVAC vent and hook right up to your duct work, ive seen people re route the exhaust right back into the HVAC intake and recirculate it. also your home HVAC will filter out the stinky.

But you do need to consider like some mylar or reflective tarping for your setup and control the temps and humidity.

shocker... One Texan beat another to a moniker containing the name of said state, and the word 'big'... lol

MY heat is now controlled with the duct work complete. My humidity stays low, as Denver is very arid. I have added some humidity but cant get it over 35%. Yeah, I wish I had mylar siding on my frame. The walls are white which helps. Ive also been told that using a white shower curtain does wonders as well. Really, I wish I had just bought an extra-large tent to begin with.

personally I run a hydro shop, I hate tents. They are oven here in texas. I think its way better deal to just panda film the whole room. Boom 100 bucks and done. Plus tents are usually only 7 foot tall robbing you of a foot after you hang you lights you lose another foot. with the pots or buckets you lose 14 inches ebb n flow you lose 2 feet. give a foot for distance from the light your left with 2.5' to 3.5' of growing space. Idk bout you but I grow 7 foot tall trees

I dont want to recirculate air thru the HVAC.
something like this with a flange bent out and screwed to the other boot would be much better possibly...

So, that's exactly the piece I tied into on the under-house side. I could have stacked another one on top of the existing as you suggested but for

- I don't want to run warm air back into my a/c ducts this summer & I'm not sure how healthy it is to force air backwards through a very expensive household air handling unit.
-I want to use whatever cold air I can that makes it into the room thru the modified duct opening to help regulate temperatures in the room.
- I don't care about the smell.

I like where your heads at, though!
