I germinated an expensive seed and planted a few days ago, and it broke through the soil over night. the root still has the seed on it the first leaves haven't came out yet. but, the root grew up about 1/4 an inch, then did a U turn and the seed shell is back on the soil. I feel like it is strained or something, but is this okay?

I feel like if I try to curl it back so it's going up it would kill it, so what should I do if anything?

possible that you didnt put the seed deep enough in the soil i try to do about 1/2 inch to an inch what did you do?
also how far away is the light from the plant? and are you watering it?

I planted about 1/4 inch deep, and I'm growing outdoors. I water everyday. I planted the other seeds the same depth and they're growing fine though which makes it confusing

some seeds are hard to crack.. You probably could've buried it deeper.. You could cover it with another 1/2inch of soil and see what happens.. Try to keep that seed shell moist so it is easier to crack..

yea tommyo is on the right track.. could have been a bit deeper as for keeping the seed moist try gettin your hand wet let water drip off your hand onto the shell to keep it soft so it can crack and brake off the plant more easily

those sound like legit ideas, I'm definitely going to try that tomorrow. I'll just get the shell wet and then put some more soil around the stem because where the seed is is kind of indented more than the rest of the soil, meaning it's a little lower in the cup. thanks for all the help! :blsmoke:

It looks like that seed was a dud. Nothings perfect it happens.

That was a good idea using wet hand to drip drop on the shell. I just pull it off lightly I would let it go maybe a day or so if it doesnt fall off naturally before trying this. Likely it would have released on its own in any case.
