Unclipped weed?

My classmate gave this container of weed for free, and I've never seen anything like it. My friend says it's just unclipped and is okay to break down and smoke, but I just wanted another opinion on it. Are the green parts leaves? And are they smokeable? Sorry if this is a noob question, I'm really new to smoking.

Yup it's not top buds , called "secondaries" but i'd say they are under that . You can smoke it . Some may be weed snobs, but it would work for ya if ya wanted to catch a buzz.

Yeah, was glad for a little free shake back in the day. In 9th grade I remember some college guys giving us a big handful of shake - got stoned as fuck off that shit.
 
I was going to bash, but it looks like some dry purple bud, wprobably just the picture quality. Pull off those green pieces and smoke up, for free you can't complain. Weeds weed, some people don't have access to "exclusive shelf" or "private reserve" fuck these shops :p
 
Looks okay, just not trimmed. Just cut the big green leaves off and trim the buds up if you want. Hard to tell since they are dark. Free is free...
 
Yeah OP at first I was lije wtf but looking at the buds, is that a dark purple color? How does it smell? The leaves are sugar leaves which most trim away but you could smoke them. Pic may be deceiving.. color and smell of the bud?

It smells dank as hell to be honest, and then yeah the color is a dark purple.
 
Shakes good to help pad a larger size joint.

Some silly people use tobacco..but that just wrecks a good J and tastes horrid.
