A buddy of mine was about the same as you. Same interests and same concerns (that UB spoke of).
He found a nice medium starting up his own landscaping design, install and maintenance company. Very low start up biz. Talking 3-4k will get you started with small jobs, easy. Assuming you already have a truck.
He seems to be pretty happy with it.
If you already have the plant knowledge it is a breeze. You just have to get very good at bidding jobs. That is pretty much what makes or breaks you. Being able to bid competitively while leaving plenty of room for profit.
Just an idea... You meet people and network pretty quickly. You can get in on some hobby/micro farming projects with people you meet... but make your money selling gardens to the rich folks.

But yeah... decorative beds are not as exciting as crops.

I'm with UB... careful mixing passion and paycheck. No romance without finance..

This is excellent advice. I have learned the hard way that making your passion in life your job can kinda take the passion out of it. BUT...ya gotta make your own choices in this life and if it's what you really want to do..go after it with everything you have.

They can just move while doing so.

Well the real truth is wit sharks it is not actual sleep. Just a slowdown. But never "unconsciousness". They can not stop moving as forward travel is required for their gills to receive water flow. They are more so in a trance than sleeping.

HB reported a 10% increase in yield using the high N food.

I agree. I have the best looking plants and a bigger yield at 18-2-4. cof

Hey ub or anyone else. Sorry if this is wrong thread. Recently doing more research in botany and plant structure I see a lot of people saying to veg at 24-0 with no dark period. I've read they don't need the dark period everywhere but to me it does not sit well and no one seems to have any good scientific research that it will benefit my mj plants. I would never do this to my vegtable or citrus for that matter so I continue in running at 20/4. Now I know the plants are at work during the night and not just " sitting there" and i know I read something you wrote about this in one of your thread when I went through them all but can't find it now. So if you can explain or point me in a direction. Or have some good sites can share (as to my googling for edu sites is not finding much ill still be looking)explaining what is going on in the dark cycle I would appreciate it thanks for all your imput and knowledge your shared over the years and to everyone else Dave and kite n others

edit well I just found it going through this thread again so ill take that and keep doing research thanks

Books will set you free! Read a few on the subject at hand and you'll quickly discover 99% of the advice you'll receive from internet forums are loaded with urban legends and mystical stoner science. If you want to be a 1%(er) read some books on basic gardening and cannabis cultivation.

Thanks man and i know what you mean as i focus my reading mainly on vegetables and citrus trees. Also read ed, jorge, and reading through mels which is even better but even in these books there can be mis leading information or information that contradicts what the next guy says. Even worse is these forums.Funny what people are saying. Ex Flushing Or Removing fan leafs! ah!Thats why i came here cause i knew i would get a no bs answer which i appreciate. There was one thing in particular i was looking for and it was the the fact that the root production is greater at night. Not looking for another book that briefly describes the subject in a chapter or paragraph. Im into chemistry and the way things work so i was looking for a whole paper dedicated to that one process not only on mj plants. if you have something like this you can share with me id love to read it but thanks for the response and good looking plants nice and green!.
