Along with the news that the Lib Dems are to debate UK drugs policy during their 2011 conference(This weekend for anyone interested), there is also a current petition directed at the goverment available for people to sign up to . Please add your voice to the ongoing campaign. We are only going to lose this fight if we continue being a silent group.

I've signed on but truth be told the whole e-petition thing is one big joke, they only intend to then debate the petitions they want to see debated. There's already a company making tens and tens of millions of pounds growing weed in the UK and as such paying tax on that money, the government has no financial incentive to open up the market and offer the chance of competitive pricing. With just the one license granted, said company can charge what they like. With a free market and the knowldge that the majority would just end up growing for use not sale, they won't take the gamble on losing that tax money :D money money money, more of it for the government if they keep things controlled. The home offices stance is that cannabis has no medical properties, but cannabis concentrates such as ISO are just dandy :D

I never give the government correct info when they go around asking for phone numbers email addresses etc. They're none of they're business. They offer no proof that i'm a citizen of the UK so they are of no importance to the govt ;) I find it interesting however that an address and post code is a requirement to create one etc, it rather seems that the info is of no genuine importance or relevence, just data mining, else they are essentially stating that homeless people, gypsies etc, regardless of their legal citizenship are not worthy of creating a petition, somehow for some reason do not fulfill the standards required to create a petition.

Personally I just think its good to see that there are still efforts being made in the right direction. And for the Lib Dems as part of the Goverment coalition to be openly debating the subject at there conference (They voted for full decriminilisation in 2002 as a party) is a very good thing to see. Add to that that David Cameron (Prime Minister) called for all Drugs to be liberalised while in opposition and Nick Clegg(Deputy Prime Minister) holds a view that we should adopt the Dutch Model of coffee shops and we seem to be heading the right way. Usually Ministers will not speak openly on the topic for fears of Voter reaction, but a recent survey of Conservative voters polled 67% as in favor of legalisation of Cannabis! I dont doubt that a change could/will take years but at least were heading down the right path instead of stagnating as we did under previous Goverment. Added to that that cuts in front line policing are currently underway, this could be seen as a good way of reducing there workload and adding to the coffers.

amd dont you think its a bit risky putting all the info down on the e-pet. ?!
:peace:
Honestly yes, but everyone being to scared to stand up and be counted is perhaps the Main reason the prohibitions have survived so long, Every year more and more people decide to vocalise there oposition and worldwide it is leading to more success, Greece being the latest to decriminilise all drugs a couple of weeks ago. When they lie we have to make sure people hear the truth if that means a bit of goverment hassle....So be it!

P.S
We passed 9000 sigs this week :')
