UFO LED or HPS 250w

PLC wise nothing really (gotta crack the ModBUS to Mac first). Was going to hook the alarm system into it. Most of the home automation is Insteon/X10 based.
I have a couple Ethernet serial & DIO 'boxes' that I haven't tossed into the works yet. (could work PLC and/or Insteon wise)

Home automation wise, pretty much all is controlled. When I am flying home I'll adjust the temp so its nice when I get home. When waiting for my bags, I'll turn on the lights (with a 20 minute delay - drive home)
Also been sampling wind speeds (an temp , humidity, etc) every 1/2 hour. Wanna see if a wind turbine will work by me. Doesn't look like it.

Plan on using some motion detectors to tell if I'm home or not and what room I'm in and adjust the house accordingly.
Its all scriptable and quick (but not instantly).

The veggy Hydroponic (real vegetables, I swear) pump is on that system too.
So off topic... For shame, says the hypocrite!!!!

Speaking of X10 motion sensors.. I used them when I was growing in a closet with my 400w HPS. They're beautiful. Wireless and run forever on a AAA battery.

And they have small vertical wind turbines that are amazing. Some generate power in as low as 8mph winds. And they don't need over spin cut offs either... very cool technology.

As for the UFO vs HPS... Fooking shame, but HPS is better...

Well, this reminds of football. Once Upon a Time, there was a game. People loved this game, there were good hits, and the players were good sportsmen. All they sudden, the stopped playing and started whining. They demanded more money for lower quality performance. Started juicing, and depending on synthetics instead of talent. and the game went to shit. replays, replays, commercials, replays.
NE Who, I just think that if you add all this HI-TECH shit, Aren't you taking the sport out of it. The fair chase if you will. K.I.S.S. dirt+water+love=dank right?

I just meant that every LED grower i've heard from is very defensive about LEDs and their use of them. It's just a bit strange.

cuz we have to fight off the ppl like la9 that have poor attitudes about the use of LEDs..u dont see any LED user coming on here and stating strictly HID suck and LED are the best...its la9 that is the cult leader of the HID cult

i hear ya! i've seen that at work too. sooo poor.

i'm all for the new and upcomming. i really like the low power consumption and heat from leds... its like once these things become practical for everyday growers the 5-0 can say they wasted there $$ flir! cuz it will no workie anymore...

Well, industrial controls is a large part of my job. I wound up with some killer parts. (If the mfg screws us *again*, I'll wind up with a bunch more on this job)

CFLs are crazy hot compared to LED. I have 3 90 watt LED UFOs in my grow cupboard and the heat is non-existant. The nodes are 5mm apart and the buds are huge, dense and strong. It always comes down to a combination of everything youve done since the plant was germinated (or cloned). I love LED lighting, but maybe i'm slightly biased because i haven't fucked up any other elements yet.
