My pot has holes in the bottom (very small ones) and water doesnt seem to come out. Does anyone use pots that are totally water tight? Or do they have to have drain holes in them?
u need the holes 4 drainage fella it,s a must. otherwise u drown ur plant, iff anything poke a couple mor on the sides of the pot! say within the bottom inch, just to be on the safe side!
iff u got one handy i find a soldering iron great for making holes in the plastic without sharp edges, plus u less likely to stab uself with wotever u trying to make the holes with. cuz it does happn!
Used my Dewalt 18v and a brand new titanium 1/4 inch drill bit. Opened the holes I had and added a few more. Took all of 5 minutes. washed the bit with alcohol and soap and water to remove any contaminates beforehand. Gonna wait till it dries out a few more days and see if I have drainage. I also set the pots on drip pans to make sure.
ye that will do it! some put an inch of lava rock at bottom 2! personly i dont bother, but then i add about 30% perlite to soil so no need! i just put sum old newspaper in bottom just to stop the soil falling out! just wondring weather u goin organic or chem fertilizer?
Organic for my indoorsies and chemical for the little shits outdoors. I'm not hoping for much from the out doors they look a little weak and also were planted way too late up here in the northern mid west but I will get what I get
