Twisting fan leaves

It seems 1 of my ladies feels that it has to twist and shout... They seem to be twisting, and just wondering as to whats causing this, its only on the top 2 nodes, and only the fan leaves. Temps stay around 75 degrees with 40 - 50% humidity, with the occasional 80 degrees.

Your plants look fine... At first just by the sound of it I was thinking to much heat.. but when I read your specs on your temperature.. your more than fine... going on the pics they look like they are a little dry... just wondering what kind of setup are you running... ? light, ventilation, medium... ? it would definately help me diagnos alot better.. ?

could be low humidity at the canopy. I do see what appears to be the start of MG deficiency on that first pic-lower leaves-are you addressing this problem? a fine layer of dolomite lime will help along with buffering the ph.

They're not dry at all, cause thats what i was thinking when i saw them also, they just seem to be twisting. As for lights, im using 16 27 watt 6500k CFL's, spread among 4 plants. Ventilation, im using a big box fan for intake and a pedestal fan to move heat from the lights and it seems to work fine, as i cant really cut holes in the wall for proper ventilation since i rent... I also use Fox Farm Ocean Forest for my medium, with Fox Farm Grow big as my only nutes so far, along with Superthrive. Hope that helps diagnose a lil better, and thanks for the quick reply! :eyesmoke:

I was also thinking MG deficiency but i looked at the FAQ, and Plant Problems chart and MG def. seemed to twist up... Could they twist down as well? and the yellowing at the bottom, it looked as though that was some nitrogen def. so i have been upping the Grow big just a little to try and compensate. :eyesmoke:

Could be too much watering. It happened to one of my plants earlier this year. How often and how much you watering? and have you got good ventilation/oscillation.

kind of looks like there a few things going on, some of the leaves are really green and kind of curling under like an upside down canoe if you get me , which could be a bit too much nitrogen.

what has you feeding shedule and strength been

I water about once every 2 - 3 days, usually 2 days lately. They've been drinking quite a bit since they've i've topped and since they bushed out more. when i had 8 plants, i was using 1 gallon for all 8 of them.

Well ur temps arent like hot or anything so you should need to water quite little. When you water them, does the top half to full inch of the soil look/feel dry? It could be overfeeding as well because some plants are senstive to fertilizer and i've seen a pic of the plant that was and it's leaves twisting down and inwards but much worse than yours. Try watering a little less and see if that stops it or fixes it. With mine, it didn't sort out the leaves that were affected when i slowed the watering and feeding, but the new growth was fine... so i'm guessin it worked

Upside down canoe, thats exactly what they look like! lol kind of just folded over.

I water every 2 - 3 days depending on if the soil is dry or not, and i water with nutes every other watering. I go by the Fox Farm feeding schedule and i usually go about 1/4 of what it says, but as of my last watering i added a little xtra, about 1/4 of a tsp xtra.

Yep, the soil is dry all the way through when i water, and i just topped it about a week and a half ago also, and the new growth is fine. It just seems to be these 2 nodes and only the fan leaves. This plant is wierd! lol

haha yeah, that happened on my grow this time, like your the plants took the nutes really well and didn't get nute burn, but got really dark green and started doing that, i think it is too much nitrogen not sure though, either way i stopped with the nutes for a bit and let it use what its got for a bit and then fed them less and the new growth was fine. not saying thats definately what you got but looks pretty similar, underneath does it look like the veins have gotten a bit too strong and are pulling the leaves in like that, thats what mine looked like anyway

Ok, then it probably is the nitrogen then, cause the veins are pretty massive underneath lol. If thats the case, then i wonder why the bottom node is yellowing... this plant is tricky lol but its one of my for sure females so i dont wanna just give up on her lol. I think ill skip the nutes on her maybe once or twice and she how she does.

Thanks guys, you helped a bunch :bigjoint:

Looks like the early signs of mag def to me (just my opinion, and past experience) If I saw that, I'd add some Epsom salt to may water.

But also sounds like a lot of watering. Let them dry out, droop a bit, then water with favored flavor.

let the pots dry up---it's overwatering----then feed them with a well bal nute around 600ppms...
