Trimming a Landrace Sativa?

I got a Filipino Kibungan Pure Sativa that's got ton of the wispy buds. Any idea how you're supposed to trim these type of buds?

Do I just cut at base of flower and dry it that way and leave the skinny green leaves on or do I have to cut every single little green blade and left with a stick and wispy calyxs lol.

Here's a pic of one I accidentally cut off.
Do I dry it like that?

If it all looks like that, you should probably make hash.

Maybe wrap it in a big leaf and bury in the ground for few weeks.....

My 2 cents? Cut to order, as in leave them be and pluck or cut off the leaves when you go to smoke.

Hang the plant upside down to dry. Those skinny leaves wrap around the bud like a protective shell. Once the do that they are easier to trim. Or just leave them on. I just leave them and smoke them...all good.

Then just wait it out lol.
Those buds will get a lot nicer and tighter with time.

I second this.

When I’ve grown pure sativa plants they did eventually got much better bud structure and density than what you are looking at now. Your plant is still super early from the looks of it. Just finally kicking into high gear flower from what you’ve been showing in your journal.

I would also add that when I put them in brown paper bags for the second part of the dry most of those little leaves broke off and there really wasn’t much to trim.

I like to do a rough trim & dry. Finger trim when im taking it out the bag to smoke. Check out the pics from Khalifa Genetics website, I think that can give you a feel for how the buds will mature. Got a long ways to go imo, keep them feed & dim the light some is always what I suggest. The buds on the edges of tent look the most developed

Thats probably been underlit, grow under not enough light, maybe. How many weeks is been actualy showing signs of flowers. With some sativas, with abit of experience you can get them to keep blooming till most leaves drop of. With others that are still very leafy just do your best and trim what you can.
Oh just wondering what your lights on, lights off cycle was through the flower stage of that plant ?

I started with 12/12 then after couple weeks went 11/13. After a few more weeks went 10.5/13.5.

The center area is getting about 900par based on the meter.

Those outer buds are actually the tops of the main branches. She got too tall so I used scrog net and separated each branch and laid them out in a circle to spread her out and reduce height. She filled it in and shot up more tops on the inner circle. I also supercropped her 1 time before using the ScroG. She's done stretching now for past 4 weeks no more vertical growth.

Also noticed that she made the bamboo supports sticky with resin. So somehow she's oozing resin all over the bamboo from her stems. Really weird but the breeder says this strain makes resin in an interesting way but doesn't elaborate. So maybe make a tea with the branches?

That sometimes happens with the tops of tropical sativas. Your better off judging from the majority and trying to catch them when youve got the most fully flowered buds before the majority degrade. As the tops on some will keep growing out and stretching. With a sativa like that you want actual signs of flowers on the plant about 14-16 weeks, sometimes longer depending on strain and plant.

Yeah that happens with some sativas, they have resin heads even on the stems. Thats usually a good sign, you might not get massive thick buds but ones like that are usually very potent and very high quality. But sometimes they can be freak phenos were production of flower is tiny wich can be caused by a numeber of things such as inbreeding or random chance. Anyways Good luck, what ever happens I hope you get something you enjoy and thats memorable.

Stop being so lazy! Just kidding maybe trim off the bigger leaves.

Here's pics of some flower tops.
Most phenotypes of this strain are wispy according to the breeders. Only a couple of the 8 phenotypes are thicker flowers.

It seems she's going to keep foxtailing her flowers because underneath the canopy it's still foxtailing but those flowers are looking to go brown.

I checked trichromes on many different flower tops and see milky trichromes. It's safe to say after 18 weeks of flower that she's in the harvest window now. I'm not sure about ambers due to the lighting but I'm going to snip and use my USB microscope to get a better look at the trichromes under normal lighting.

If they are all milky I'm chopping today because the smell, trichromes and most pistils look ready..

It seems the calyxs are where the resin is being stored and probably the stems too.

Definitely want a smoke report on that one

Looks prime for just a light trim.
Maybe a sweat cure Malawi cob style - and then an iso wash and make a special concentrate.
That would be easiest.

100% Sativa's are light and airy buds. Durban Poison is the same way. They look good. Congrates on the grow. How tall did they get?

Not sure haven't cut and hung her yet as something come up this holiday weekend. She's more than 5 ft tall probably 6 to 7 ft
