topsy turvy

so i was at wally world this morning and i seen a product called topsy turvy and was wondering if it can be used to grow buds just a thought also what about the aqua globes lol

the topsy turvy is my next idea im gonna try this comeing season.. i dont see why not !!!!

I grew bomb ass tomatoes out mine last season I'ma try getting one of my ladies in it in a few months. I still havent ripped out the dead tomatoe plant though its just sitting there lookin real ugly.

I wanna see weed grown upside down cuz on the comercial I specifically remeber them saying you can grow "Herbs" in it so I wanna see how it effects the potency and yeild. I imagine the yeild will be better but honestly I think the increase in yeild would be due to the build up of minerals in the top (bottom?) of the plant. Would that buildup fuck up the taste? What are the effects physically to the plant that goes on when growing upside down? How do the roots know to grow upwards?

Lol. I loved that. Im highhhh. I have seen mj being grown sideways on this forum and have heard of upside down, curious to find out how it goes. You certainly will not end up with a 6 foot monster in that dinky ass thing though.

They grow upwards the same way they grow downwards. Do you water from the top of them things? The roots may absorb them better if so. And does the china made gardening toy use soil?

Yeah you do water it from the top. I don't understand how watering from the top benefits the plant at all tho.

And I've had an urge to turn an aqua globe into a bubbler. I just might stop by walgreens and get one.

good idea, good luck

This is an old practiced that dates back to the great depression. It's a really resourceful way to use space. You can actually grow more fruit vertically or upside down then you can in the ground. Another benefit is that many bugs have a harder time finding the plants. Flying insects are still problematic, but scales & aphids are drastically reduced. Its also easier to feed the roots because the plants are close to eye level where as in a raised garden bed or in traditional garden rows, you have to bend over and work the soil.

Just don't expect yields must bigger then conventional container pots. Nasa even did some experiments in space to see if vertical growing was feasible during long space flights. The results were an unanimous "maybe." The marketing by topsy turvy is brilliant, but really the results are identical to what you would get to planting in a traditional pot. Some people have said the stems are stronger because the plants have to grow upward, but growers who use LST training get the same or better results regardless if they use pots of grow directly in ground.

My opinion is that growing in a raised bed is easy and attractive. Growing in pots is easy and portable. Growing vertically or upside-down makes no difference when it comes to yield, but if you are pressed for space, hanging an upside plant can expand your growing area with almost no negative consequences.

Thanks for the rep. I also wanted to share another interesting concept. One person found out they could use a fabric shoe organizer to create a vertical garden. Just think SOG on a new level..
