Topping

Yep i agree. This is also what some of the guys getting 3 pounds a light do. And will produce more branching.

how often should I top when scroging?
Βro, it depends on how many plants do you have, and how wide is the canopy you want to fill..for example..if u have 1m2 and 4 plants u only need to top once..if u have one plant for a m2 you must do it 3 times to perfectly fill the scrog..see this..think and act..lollipop2.jpg day50.jpg..this is one plant in a m2..veged for 8 weeks.3 times topped, lsted as much as possible, keep tucked for the first 10 days in flowering, keep bended till the stretch is done..and the results are this..!

Very nice El Connoisseur! I have chemdawg nearly identical. 8 weeks veg under a scrog just over 1sqm. I kept bending till day 14. Only topped once. But supercropped 5 main branches. I believe the scrog is more about training and the topping is only to encourage more branching as the screen creates an even canopy if done right. maybe strain dependant also? But very nice El Connoisseur!

It is a shame they fuck us with plant numbers in many places.
With no veg, I can pull 200 to 300g (10oz+) in a 0.72m2 area every 60 days. or 6 cycles a year or just shy of 4 pounds per year.
Even at $40 ounces that is $2500's weed a year

Exaclty dude.. its for sure strain dependant..a sativa for example will do the job much faster..and about topping..i think its easier to top 2 or 3 times and send the branches from the mid to the edges, than supercroping..also a tone of lst is needed:D...but this is just my opinion..thank you for your kind words bro..
Keep it flowering! :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:

The best results about quality, will not come with no veg..lol..unless if u run autos..minimum 4 weeks veg to mature the plant and send it into flowering..i usually SoG 4 plants in a m2..once topped early veg..once lst one week before switch..3-4 days before switch i clear the 1st bottom layer..and thats all about veg..flowering and defoliation is another story! But this is not shame LOL..Everyone has his own way to grow..and u must respect it..! SHAME ROTFLOL!

How long should I veg my Sativa?
Ist the 3 x topping for 1 plant/m2 also applicable for Sativa?

The main idea is to prepare all your ''main'' heads BEFORE set the scrog net..after this, u set the net and u distribute all your heads to every direction...u want to have as many ''main'' heads as you need to fill every direction..think from the end to the start..after u reach the number of the ''main'' stems (via topping and lsting) you need to cover every direction.. you set the scrog net and u stop topping..u just grow your plant INTO the screen in order to fill every direction..
FOR SATIVAS=feel 60-70% of the screen in veg and flip it..keep tucking till the net is compliteley filled which will happen after 10 days into flowering..
FOR INDICAS=feel 80-90% of the screen and do the same..
After u have completely filled the scrog, let the plant stretch up..just bending the heads with lst ON THE NET, in order to have the same height in all the canopy..
After the stretch is done..u have already given ur plant the shape u wish..u just deleaf every fan that covers other heads..and that's all!
REMEMBER, this is my opinion..my knowledge, created but exercising and trying..!Maybe u will find another method which works better with your perception!
And the number of topping u want to do is BASED ON HOW MANY HEADS YOU WANT TO HAVE PER DIRECTION in order to completely fill the scrog..with one plant you will need roughly 3 times to top!

Keep it Flowering bro..Good luck!

My style is very similar to El connoissuer's. But i only top once and i tuck for an extra 3 or 4 days. I like to think of the net as a very low stress way of training your plant/s to keep a shorter even canopy (very important) and allow good light penetration to all bud sites. Topping (usually multiple times at once) is more of a high stress training method that can add veg time for plant recovery. But is great if you want multiple bud sites exposed to the light without scrogging in my opinion. I only top once to encourage stronger lower branch growth at a young age and let the net do the rest. Also remember that generally the more you top the smaller your colas are going to be (but youll have more of them) i read somewhere a few years ago that if you grew a plant and topped it then you would get 2 main colas just over half the size of what the single cola would of been that would each weigh roughly 60% of what the main cola would of weighed. If you kept topping then you would get more smaller colas so final weight/yield would go up but size of colas would go down. I assume this is only because the plant is getting more light overall as it has created a more even canopy. (Not like a single cola christmas tree) thats exactly the purpose of a scrog grow in my opinion and if i want more colas i simply veg for longer and i get branches off the branches! If i veg for even longer (under scrog) then those branches grow branches! From my experience Plants dont go into recovery mode this way either and put all their energy into...... well..... growing branches haha. But There is no wrong or right way it is whatever works best for you and your grow style. And alot of the time youll figure that out by experimenting!! And generally the longer the veg, the bigger the plant, the bigger the plant, the bigger the buds!!

Thanks a lot for ur growguide.

Up to now I’ve been an outdoor & greenhouse farmer, but I wanna give indoors a try to extend the seasons, hence the many q‘s.

Managed to get Jamaican Lambsbread Kernels (these girls are mostly Sativa); I wanna try indoors & greenhouse.

Let the good times roll!

If your after good quality buds and maximum yield in any given space, go with either sea of green or scrog. Both ideas are similar (wont go in to details) but you'll find sea of green to be more work but quicker turn over and HIGH plant numbers! If you are growing mostly sativa then i personally would recommend scrog as they stretch alot! Hope this helps rainbow warrior!! You could even start a journal of your first scrog? You'll get plenty of help along the way thatl save you heaps of headache and you won't have to learn from your mistakes. You can learn from other peoples mistakes!! Good luck bro!

No problem dude...Good luck and knock the door if u need anything else..and remember..i was scrogger till the bone..and i change my mind about this..i bilieve and i use sog method, which is the highest yielding method with the fastest results..the only problem is the higher cost for seeds..unless u run clones.. and in addition you would need bigger nutrition quantity, but i think the total cost is equalized between sog and scrog, due to the minimization of the vegetative phase via sog..in my opinion.. sog worth it to work with..u REALLY minimize the veg phase..working scrog, especially with one plant..will take too long to fill a m2.. but u can experiment scrog for a run and sog the next one, and then you will choose what works better for you!
However, have a nice run with much stacked DANK weed!

Totally agree with you brother!! Thing I've found with big plants in scrog is you need to have perpetual grows down to a T. And stagger harvests. Downside to this i find is you need a bigger veg room as opposed to sog! Alot of people also recommend to use clones from the 1 mother for each individual light. That way they all pretty much grow the same and you create a more even canopy....... maybe plant 20 seeds from whatever strain you choose bro and find 1 plant/pheno out of those that best suit your sog setup and clone the shit out of it......? Just a thought...? Make life easier for a sog grower i reckon!?

Bro, you are ABSOLUTELY right..especially for this about clones..my main problem is that i have different phenos from the same seeds almost every time..with the clone method this problem is solved..but i dont make a mother cause i set 4 plants in a m2 tent and the cost for the seeds is lower than the cost for making a mother, also i run 2 crops per year..for personal use..so the ''mother method'' :p is lil bit more expensive for my situation..but would definetely do it if i run more plants..
