I read about a guy on another website, he grows 10-12 foot monsters, their as wide as they are tall, just massive, he says his trick is topping all of his bracnches everytime he goes to check on it, constantly creating new shoots for soon to be colas. theres alot of info on topping on rollitup if you havent looked at any of that yet. I like to top my plants right from the beginning, when the plants are 6 plus nodes, creating 2 shoots instead of one. Everytime new shoots come up, I top each one of them, and so on. Hope that helps, happy toking.

Yes - topping the plant will make it grow more tips and keep a bit lower. You could squeeze the stem flat with two fingers and just bend the top - this will do some of the same. It could become as big as 5-6 time its hight when put into flower, so just bonzai it as you want. After first flowering you know how much it stretches and how tall you need to have it before flowering. 12 main colas are not neccessarily better than 6 since the 6 will be much larger. This summer i am going to cut a plant back all summer untill it's just all tips - then i'll put it into the flowering room to make a crown of bud ;O)

is fimming less stress on a plant then topping?
Depends on many factors but i find them both to stress the plants. Other than some random fan leaves or pruning, I learned not to top or fim a plant now. Its just my personal preference.

and can u top every branch or just the main tops?
Before chopping any part of a plant I suggest do some research as to why some top or fim and see if its beneficial for you. Just cause some guru grower tops or fim's and gets X amount of harvest doesn't always mean he got that because of those techniques. Seriously, read up on why you want to do this.

I don't understand why you would cut a piece off a plant to get an extra branch to grow when in fact anytime you oull the branches down they will start to grow numerous shoots off of a branch with no cutting or hassle...I just keep pulling stuff around as I wish and have ended up with some seriously compacted plants....I just had one finish that I had LST'd into some sort of weird mini tree...but every single spot possible grew bud sites....so I was super happy with the result, although while growing it wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing plant I've ever seen....right off of the main stem I had created 2 main stems so a Y shape, and then 6 branches off of one side of the Y and 7 on the other....so it looked like a crazy set of hands reaching out of a bucket....lol.
