Topping Plants

Okay, I've got a question about topping my plant for: 1) Increasing yield 2)making clones.

When topping my plant, can I chop off the second from top node along with the top node, or can/should it only be the top node? See attachment.

You CAN do that, if you are trying to clone. Just make sure you do it at a 45 degree angle, and leave at least one node for new leaves to sprout from.

Ok, thanks Kieah. There will be like 3-4 nodes left from the cloning so it sounds like I'll go through with it now.

topping your plant will not increase yeild no matter how you do it. VV

Well, ok. It's fine if it doesn't increase yield. I'm not even sure if I'm going to ever put that plant into flower or just keep her in veg as a mother.

Thanks for the help guys.

what do you mean?it will not increase your yeild?

yes it will. you can not tell me that if you dont top a blueberry it will be the same results as a topped one.

you are wrong unless some one can prove your right

Yeah that's what I heard. I thought it would eventually cause the plant to have more than one and maybe multiple main stems instead of the typical 'one'.

Yeah you better explain yourself on that one, because to this noob you sound like noob supreme. OP is right, topping will create at least one more top if not more than you had originally...

Ok guys, I topped the plant and made a couple of clones. Let's hope for the best turn out and thanks for all the help. Pics in attachment.

topping will create more than one main cola but it won't be anywhere near the size the single on would have been. in most cases, NOT ALL, all you are doing is redistributing the buds. you get the same weight in the end just more smaller sized buds.

All right, thanks FDD. That's pretty much the general idea I had about topping anyways. I've just heard different versions through the grapevine (the 'grapevine' being rollitup).

when i take cuttings i try to take them with at least 4 - 5 nodes. on the cutting.

Oh wow, is that not big for a cutting? Mine are definately not 4-5 nodes as you can see in the picture, but I suppose it's more of a test.
