Tobacco Water

Will it kill a plant to directly water it with
tobacco water to kill bugs in the soil?

*Anything I say in this forum is COMPLETELY FICTIONAL. *

Why not? It is listed as a remedy by several reputable sources. You may want to put a little dish soap in the water with the tobacco juice. Make sure you strain it before using. The soap will coat the bugs and suffocate them. It also acts as a wetting agent for the plants.

so I had spider mites and little nat like things, and I watered the soil with tobacco water, and sprayed the plants with the water too. I don't see any spider mites any more, but the nats seem to thrive and multiply when I tobacco water them. Any other ideas for the fruity flies?

google "predator nematodes". should be some you can order from. or check hydro stores or nurseries. they eat all the bad bugs in the soil. and the larvae of bad bugs.

well careful on the soap since this can kill easily a plant, its more for washing bugs of leaves then for soil bugs, for that tobacco tea is a good cure:)
that you rather see webs after misting with tobacco tea is not science:D the water troops increase the surface of those:D

what wonders me a bit is your fruity fly problem, did you get this after you used tobacco tea??? i kill them with that stuff:-? or do you got trouble with those in general? then go for the tea once more and take care of them.

If the tabacco water is too concentrated it can be deadly (it has been used to kill people even). But that is in it's super concentrated form. Oh no now we have started a new thread ways to cook up deadly solutions. Crap I'm not responsible. It is green's fault. I don't know why but I had to blame someone.

you may not get this in the states, but it is a great aussie food we love, looks like shit paste, called vegemite,i put it in a small plastic container with a small hole in top, with a bit of water then looks like diluted shit, but they get in and do not get back out, yellow top helps as most bugs here seem attracted to yellow, fuck knows why ,but an old market gardener told me and it works,if you cant get vegemite over there,i can send you a jar via rollitup, bugs not good for,but it is fucking great on toast,so you can have a feed while you see if it works?? sorry but i will send a jar if you like,i dont know if rollitup let you send things via them, but if you get a taste for it you may get addicted, the bugs however will die,die ,die.and it is legal though it is an aussie thing if you get addicted you will have to suffer if you run out.

I misted with cig tea, watered with it, sprayed again then watered again. They actualy seemed to thrive off the shit. They multiplied like crazy when I used the tea.
I just went to one of the sites from googling predator nemitodes and they sold me a million for 15 bucks.:peace:

You could also get some ladybugs from your local hydro/plant shop. Around here you get 1500 for $11, keep them in the fridge and they hibernate, take them out and they live again! They kill aphids and mites and scale insects, cheap and natural, doesn't kill all pests though.

BTW - I like the "good bugs eat the bad bugs" solutions. It's hard to go wrong with good soil nematodes, predator mites, and ladybugs (Did I cover all the bases there?).....not to mention good agricultural practices like keeping the room clean, changing/cleaning out the reservoir, controlling temps and humidity, and not overwatering soil. Over the years, I've noticed that soilless mediums like hydroton seem to avoid a lot of the fungus and mold (and related bug) problems. Probably because it aerates well.
