After reading up more on Ausmus, I think might have been a really, really good signing.

I think they will be able to keep Scherzer too, 2015 free agent list for pitchers is insane.
Price, Kershaw, Lester and tons of third starter types. Any other year Scherzer would get
HUGE money. All the lefties will get bigger/longer contracts most likely.

I think Boras is banging his head against a wall right now. He hates when his clients do not see any difference between 160 million and 140. Damn commies!!

Scherzer, speaking to MLB Network Radio, said he wants to remain with the team despite the chance to become a free agent with his contract expiring after the 2014 season.

"I don't want to be traded," Scherzer said. "I got a great thing going in Detroit, we have a great team. I hope they don't mess with it. I want to be a Detroit Tiger and hopefully get back to the playoffs and try to do the ultimate goal and win something for the city of Detroit."

Agent Scott Boras, typically not known for negotiating contract extensions for high-profile players on the cusp of free agency, said Wednesday that Scherzer will keep an open mind if the Tigers approach him.

I want a world series so fucking bad with this group.
I hope Prince pulls through, I don't want that fucker to be a Shaun Rodgers.
Scherzer earned his fucking cash slum, didn't he? Mr I has the money.
Detroit has the 5th highest payroll and they are better than 5th place.
Everything is great, add the championship.

The week layoff was the only thing that stopped them in 06 and 12.

I would raise ticket prices on some seats before I break up any part of that team. 65$ to sit behind home plate? Crazy bargain.
I think they never even considered trading or not signing Scherzer. They just wanted to make sure they were getting a hometown
discount before offering him a contract extension. He does not seem like the type that would sign with a losing club for an extra year
or 20 million more. Tigers will pay him market value, they just don't want to pay the Boras rape tax.

I will sadly admit I was 100% wrong about Prince Fielder playing for the Tigers.
This is the biggest disappoint in my eyes since Steve Mariucci didn't turn the Lions into a winning football team.
I am also stunned Dave was able to unload that fat fuck. (referring to player and contract both.)

You guy's are tough. He did drive 100+ runs every year! I don't think Miggy has those kind of seasons without prince
providing protection in the line up either. In Tex I will be surprised if he does not have a 40/120+ season. His contract
was a little much, but Comerica/AL central is a tough place to put up numbers offensively.

Kinsler is a good doubles guy, should do good.

Hey, I take resemblance to a fat fuck (without the contract). Thanks. LMAO.
Me too. lol

I listened to V&F on the ticket earlier and they brought up the fact that he plays every single game, he has an insane amount of at bats. He slumped here and I personally think this was a locker room decision.
I think Cabrera takes too much attention off Prince for Princes liking. Commerica Park is too big for Prince also. In Texas he will succeed, I don't think he was a success in his time here though. Maybe this is one of
the rare blockbuster trades where both sides did good.

True, but where was he when it counted most? That's the rub. When someone is making 24 million a year, they are expected to produce in the post season.

A big hitter doesn't do us any good if he can't do it during playoffs. He choked big time. Way too much money to spend on a regular season hitter only, when we have a great first basemen waiting to head back over to his base.

I bet he gains another 25lbs from all that BBQ he's going to be surrounded in. So much for ice baths for him, now its on to BBQ sauce baths! lmao.

I agree, it bothers me when power hitters try to do too much against good pitching. In post season play
normally all you are going to see is good pitching.

The money thing was just what he was worth to a team at the time. Can't really fault the player for that.
When they made that contract Cabrera was not the best hitter on planet earth, nor did they think they were
going to have to pay 30+ million a season to try to keep him. If it comes to keeping miggy or prince, sorry bro
you gotts to go.

StL got a lot better with that signing. SS was by far their softest spot last year. He is going to kill in the NL.

I am a little biased but think Rajai will be a good fit. I played with and against him as a youth and teen. He is good dude.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Detroit Tigers have found an outfielder to platoon with Andy Dirks in left field. It's Rajai Davis.
Davis has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Tigers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of sportsnet.ca reported early Tuesday. Details of the agreement have not been disclosed, but FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi said the deal is worth between $9 or $10 million total.
Smith was the first to report the Tigers' interest in Davis, who has yet to take his physical, late Monday.
A 10-year veteran, Davis spent the past three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays. He batted .260 with six homers and 45 stolen bases last year, and has played in at least 95 games each of the past five years.
The addition of Davis gives the Tigers a right-handed bat to start in left field when the team is slated to face a left-handed starting pitcher. He's expected to split playing time with Dirks, who struggled during the 2013 season after posting solid numbers in 2012.
Davis, who reportedly garnered significant attention from the Minnesota Twins the past few days, is a lifetime .268 hitter who has hit .294 with a .354 on-base percentage in his career against southpaws. He's a career .255 batter against righties.
Davis' arrival essentially gives the Tigers another leadoff option and reinforces the club's commitment to adding speed on the basepaths this offseason. At 33 years old, he has 268 career stolen bases, and has swiped 41-plus bases in four of his last five seasons.
With Davis now on board, it appears the Tigers are set as far as addressing position players, and it means the club is extremely unlikely to pursue highly touted free agent Shin-Soo Choo, who is expected to garner a contract that could exceed $150 million
