Three Florida Recounts

Florida is a lost cause. I mean really. It's ALWAYS a problem in Florida.

We should just cut it off the bottom of the continental U.S., push it out into the Atlantic ocean and use it as a nuclear waste dump.

Any update on the recount?
DeSantis in the form of Rick Scott sent the National Guard to take possession of any heretofore uncounted ballots or some shit like that. Republicans are trying to hang onto power by any means. Something like that is going down in Georgia too.

Trump is making a case that because Gillum took favors from lobbyists, DeSantis should be governor no matter what the voters said.

If none of what I said makes sense it's because some is exaggeration and the rest is antithetical to the values we were taught was the basis of our elections system.

I have family in Florida. No need to do something drastic just yet. Florida will sink under the ocean when it rises due to Republican induced global warming. Allowing nature to take revenge will give me time to figure out where to house my refugee relatives.

If the people of Florida demand better voting systems they can have it. It's up to the people. Oregon is entirely vote by mail and I don't understand why it's not adopted elsewhere. No complicated voting equipment required.

Still, it's up to your state. Personally, I'd be furious.
Each county decides what system they want from the list of approved vendors. Mail votes are rejected at a much higher rate, so it's not a silver bullet.

Do you know why Florida is in a recount? The embrace. Republicans shunned the embrace. It they had just embraced the embrace, America, and even Floridians, would have embraced them.

This guy is so pumped full of drugs he makes Schuylaar look like a Teetotaler.

Florida is a 50/50 state. There are problems with elections in all states. But when the state is real red, or real blue, they don't make any difference. And they don't make the news.

Florida makes headlines seemingly every year. In my half century of living in the United States, I've never seen anybody, including third world countries, have the election problems that Florida has on a regular basis.

There are problems in all states. They just don't make the news because the races are so one sided.

There have not been excessive problems reported in this election. It's just so close, every single ballot matters.

That is a Florida problem.

Nationwide, 99% of all mail in ballots are counted. But I get it. If Florida wants to be the center of the storm every goddam election, it's completely their right to screw up.

You are right about the rejection rate of mail ballots. About 1%. Or put another way, ten times more likely to be rejected than early or election day voting.

It's our right to be an evenly divided state. Less than 0.5% difference. If all the votes had been by mail, we would still be recounting.

The most common cause of mail ballots to be rejected. Folks not signing the envelope. 2nd leading cause. Signature not matching. In Florida that is mainly old folks who's handwriting has got so shaky.

Oregon finished counting it's mail in ballots a long time ago.

No big deal. Not controversies. When there are, the paper ballots are available for scrutiny. One time in one counting station one of the workers was caught illegally diverting ballots that turned out to mostly be Democratic ballots. She was charged, sentenced and the ballots she was trying to spoil were counted.

We don't have the crap Florida does. I'm not saying Florida shouldn't have a major fuck up every election season, I'm just saying it's not necessary. But I absolutely agree that it is every Floridians right to fuck up an election if that's what what want.

In case of a close election, we have the ballots (we don't shred them before the issues are settled like what happened in BROWARD COUNTY) and can re-count. Never had a hanging chad either. The ballots are placed into a security envelope, the security envelope is put into another envelope that is signed by the voter. It can all be checked for fraud and accuracy. The system is transparent, both sides can contest results and it rarely happens. Oregon voters love their system, Republican and Democrat alike.

When a ballot is rejected due to signature mis-match, the voter is notified and an issue resolution process usually results in the voter's ballot being counted. Very low rejection rate. Sometimes a ballot is mis-marked. They are reviewed if the election is very close and every attempt is made to discern what the voter wanted.

You talk as if Florida's fuck ups are inevitable and I can't agree. I think somebody in Florida likes to have their elections fucked up. Usually, it's Republicans that benefit from them. Seems fishy to me.

By fuck up the election, do you mean that half the folks vote one way, and half of them the other? It would be simpler if we had a 6.1% Governor race like you guys. Not to mention some of the house districts. 72 to 19. A nailbiter, that one.

By "fuck up the election", I mean the bullshit that went on at the polls where "untrained people" were allowed to wrongly disallow people the right to vote because they didn't know what to do when "things went wrong". That wouldn't happen in a 100% vote by mail system. I also mean the 266 uncounted ballots that weren't delivered in time to be counted. I also mean the charges and counter charges of fraud. I mean the 26000 ballots in Broward county that had non-votes for the Senate probably due to a hokey layout on the ballots.

To an outsider, the whole thing looks fucked up. It happens every election. If control of the House had swung on this I'd be more than aggravated. As it is, I'm left wondering why the complacency.

We have close elections in Oregon too. But none of the controversy.

Maybe I just don't understand but I have trouble thinking it's a random accident when things like this happen in every election.

But old folks are more likely to vote Republican. So shaky handwriting is good voter suppression.

That's the most disgusting and disturbing misrepresentation of voter suppression of all time.

Are you still confusing Herbert Hoover with Dwight Eisenhower?
Well, all Republican scum are the same. It's nearly impossible to tell them apart. I've seen the light. Don't you see my sig?
