This work?

I've got 4ft T-12 fluorescent lights (AKA "Shop Lights") that I use for the first 2 or 3 weeks of veg and for mother plants. I use 40W 6500K bulbs. I move to MH for the rest of veg and HPS for flower. I could probably flower with the fluorescent bulbs, but it would be a waste - the buds would be small and fluffy - maybe get a couple grams per plant if I was lucky.

Well I got an extra regular florescent light that I might go pick a stand for. Maybe that could add some more power. Could the length of the actual light have anything to help? Its about 1ft, and for five plants it seems to be alright.

wrong colour. most bulbs that say grow on them or for plants aren`t apropriate.
look for the kelvin number on the bulb. 2700 or so is for floweriung and 6700 for veg, then look for the highest wattage.
i use phillips natural daylight flouro`s for one of my veg, 20 watt each and i have 4 of them
