Thinkin bout DWC

I'm normally a soil grower but have been toying with the idea of a DWC setup. We have a bunch of Rubbermaid containers around the house (funny how you never pay them much attention until you realize they are for more than just storage).
Anyway, I would like to know what size container will comfortably support 6 plants, from seedling to harvest. And what size net pots will be required?

Oh, and one more....how do you guys with multiple plants per container keep the roots from entangling in one another?

One 5 gallon bucker per plant is the norm and the whole bucket will be full of roots if you do it right. I'd go for buckets myself.

Also if you are used to soil, I'd stick with soil until you are ready for the first transplant, instead of transplanting to bigger pot in soil, transplant to DWC. This way you have a good set of roots to start with and a decent size stem to handle the plant by.

18 gallons for smaller plants, id double that if u veging over 2 weeks.. Cup size really dont matter because the roots grow through the cups and into the bucket. 2-3" net cups should be fine.

I use an 18 gallon container for 4 plants just because of the roots tangling.. My suggestion to you is set one up for some bagseed or clones and give it a run for the hell of it. I use 3 inch netpots, but i see people use 2 inchers no problem.. I'm doing a DWC right now check the grow journal link out if you want.
